Product Description

Style Name: With Timer

Product Description

The 4” (100mm) DX100 range of extraction fans are stylish, compact and easy to install and are supplied with a wall/ window kit including telescopic ducting and an external grille. The DX100 fan is suitable for installation into walls, ceiling and window applications.

Designed specifically for use in bathrooms, shower rooms and toilets the DX100 is BEAB Approved, IPX5 rated and conforms to Building Regulation Part F1. The fan has extract performance of 76meters³ of air per hour and a sound pressure level of just 35 dBA @ 3 meters.

The DX100 is supplied with everything you need to complete the installation:

Telescopic Wall Tube: The round plastic telescopic wall tube can be adjusted up to 300mm eliminating the need to cut down to size. The wall tube is 100mm in diameter.

External Grille: A black grille is 155mm x 155mm square with a projection of just 15mm.

Window Fittings: A window spacer and gaskets are provided for installation into single glazed windows up to a maximum thickness of 6mm.

Wall Fixings and Raw Plugs: supplied to aid installation into walls.

If installing into a wall or ceiling the recommended hole diameter is 117mm. If installing into a single glazed window the hole diameter required is 125mm.

The DX100 range are available in four variants:

Please check with our fan selector to ensure the correct fan is purchased to meet your requirements. If replacing an existing fan wiring will already be in place, for an easy installation it is important you select the right product.

Standard: Typically connected to the light switch the fan is turned on/off by operating the light.

Pull Cord: A manual fan that is turned on/off by pulling a cord.

Timer Delay: Typically connected to the light switch, the fan is turned on and off by operating the light switch with a timer overrun enabling the fan to continue to run for between 2 and 20 minutes after the light has been turned off.

Humidistat with Timer Delay: The fan is turned on/off with the light switch and also by sensing a rise in humidity within the room. The overrun timer can be set to operate the fan once it has been turned off, adjustable between 2 and 20 minutes.

Fan Selector:

If you are replacing an existing fan it is important that you identify which type of fan you are replacing.

I have a STANDARD fan… you can select a new standard fan or you have the wiring in place for a pull cord fan.

I have a PULL CORD fan… you can select a new pull cord fan or you have the wiring in place for a standard fan.

I have a TIMER DELAY fan… you can select a new timer delay fan or you have the wiring in place for a humidistat fan.

I have a HUMIDISTAT fan… you can select a new humidistat fan or you have the wiring in place for a timer delay fan.

Other options are possible but will require additional wiring, it is recommended that you seek advice from a qualified electrician.

I'm an electrician, and have fitted a number of these Xpelair DX100-series fans over the years. I personally think this 4" Xpelair DX100H humidistat version is generally a pretty good fan in terms of construction quality, extraction rate, noise levels, and its excellent waterproof rating (IPX5!) but the criticisms being levelled here (whilst perfectly valid) are fairly common with many fans of this type where the humidistat is located deep inside the fan - they can seemingly run-on forever if they're not properly set!

The humidistat on this fan can be adjusted to trigger between 50% and 90% relative humidity (RH), but if you measure the RH even before you use a bath or shower, you'll find the ambient humidity in many homes is already in excess of 70% or even 80%! Once you can see steam, the air is already saturated and RH is >100%. Even once the steam is visibly removed, the RH is still well over the pre-set level and the fan rightly continues to run - even though it seems as if it should have already stopped. Therefore, the humidity control usually needs to be set very high (higher than the ambient moisture level, so typically >80%) to avoid false triggering and running on excessively.

A hygrometer for measuring RH in the room is useful to help set and initially monitor the fan, especially if you have longstanding damp, condensation or mold problems, or the fan seems to be over-running/misbehaving (cheap hygrometers here on Amazon cost about £4 upwards).

Yes, it's just a bathroom fan & it does the job..... But, it does it's job really well & looks good. Being an Xpelair it's a name that can still be trusted & with the sealed for life motor/bearing will last even longer.
It runs quiet and extracts as it should, wiring was an easy job with it's clear internal labeling. It's a well made unit and comes with solid trunking which is extendable by way of one fitting inside the other (sleeve like) as apposed to collapsible, flexible trunking that some cheaper fans incorporate, oh, I bought it when on offer But, would pay the full price even if it wasn't. So that's it job done..... hopefully for many a year.

Bought this extractor fan and found the installation straight forward as it was a replacement for an older product, the downside is that it did not fit the original mounting holes of its predessor.
The seller was reliable and the delivery was less than 1 week.

I was slightly worried about the price as it was low but this is a good buy considering you get everthing you need ie the mounting kit for wall or window. It's a simple, inexpensive but quite nice looking extractor with a timer, ours is default to 5 mins after light go's off. Looks really nice on the wall. The electrition found it was easy to install, even though we had never had an extractor before. Instructions seemed very clear. It is linked to our light switch, is quiet when running, and we have a small bathroom so its enough to deal with the shower steam we got it for.

Can't comment on longevity yet.

Only took a couple of days to arrive. Yes it is a full kit at a very reasonable price. Even has some sticky back tape to insulate any fan noise from where it connects the the ceiling. Tested the fan and there is no noise by the way. Plus a big rubber seal to fit around the fan nozzle to seal it to the extractor tube. Also a length of extractor tube as well just incase you need it. Full written instructions also. Oh and a packet of screws and rawl plugs. All thats missing (Only joking folks) is the little man to fit it. Thats for me to do. Should be a one for one swap with no issues.

This is a very neat fan which we fitted in to the ceiling. The fan is linked to the light so comes on when the light is switched on. The fan is quite quiet but not silent if that is what you are looking for. Very impressed with it for the price and would definitely recommend.
