5.0 out of 5 stars Tee Bestest MP3 Player, 7 April 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Xen EMP-200 128MB MP3/WMA Player with FM Tuner (Electronics)
There are three words for this player:
1, sleek
2, sexy
3, and very easy to use.

The radio does not have the best of receptions, but then that is made up by the quality of music. The player is high quality and music sounds great, not tinny like other mp3 players and older cd and cassette players.

It uses 2AAA batteries and runs for around 16hrs. The case is made of aluminium and is hard wearing, i have dropped mine a couple of times and there is no damage.

Transferring the files is easy as my computer reconises it as removavble disc and is done by dropping and dragging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little black number, 22 Jun 2004

Possibly the best featured solid state player that I have owned.

I bought this for the great centered navigation joystick, operation is SOOOOOO easy! The other great feature is the direct MP3 encoding, this puppy splits the incoming signal into different MP3 tracks (great if you are recording from a hifi). My previous player used to record a whole album as one long track, but this splits the album into different tracks!!!

GREEEEAAAAATTTTT.....

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an amazing unit., 18 May 2006

Ok so it is not USB2 but for 128M USB1 is fine for podcasts OK it does not have a Li-Ion battery, but that is a plus point, no expensive batteries to replace. It takes 2 x AAA batteries, I use the high capacity NiMH and they lasts forever 18 hours+! I carry a spare set they are tiny, and on holiday you can just take alkaline ones or buy some. Try doing that with a built in batteries.

The build quality is out of this world. The case is think aluminium, I've dropped mine from 5feet onto granite no damage!

The interface is excellent it is a joy to use. The software that comes with the player is good. You do not need to use it though just plug it in and away you go XP recognises the player as an external drive without ANY software installed. The software that comes with the player allows you to add text and lyrics to songs, and even create MP3 or listen to text files. The voice playback is better than the commercial text to speech programs that cost me $600!

The accessories with the unit are great, I don't use them but you get a quality arm band, see through case, again good quality.

The screen is amazing and readable in the dark (it is backlit) and in direct sun! There is so much in the interface that makes it a joy to use. The options and design of the software is as good as the players build quality.

I've had my 128meg unit for over one year, and it is the best unit. I have iPod Nanos, cheaper players etc and this is my favourite. I use it for podcast's while travelling and at home with high end headphones.

The recorder is variable bit rate and it has a built in mic or you can plug one in or use a line in: Excellent. The mp3 encoding is fine.

Make sure you get the 1.6D firmware this add book mark support which I use all the time.

The playback starts where you stopped which is a good feature and the forward skip runs at 1 minute per second for the first 15 seconds then the pace jumps to 10 minutes per second. Great design!

You can delete tracks and move through folders, there is a repeat, shuffle etc.

I'm not easily impressed, but the power, stability and quality of this unit is something to behold. It has a graphic equaliser and 3d sound which is just a DSP gimmick if you like that sort of thing. But the core sound and power (even on high end headphones) is excellent. Even in the car or on the hifi at home this unit is excellent!

As you can see I like this product! An amazing unit: One thing I can tell you is that I will buy from EZAV again. I do not mind paying for quality and this has it by the bucketful.
