Xcode 5 Start to Finish.....A disappointment to me! 29 Sep 2014
By Iatros - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I had hoped to use this book to learn how to use Xcode 5 to renew my long-abandoned c skills, as well as learn how to use the IDE on my iMac to write code snippets and programs. The debugger was a vital part of the program and book to my goal. Turns out the book assumes one already knows and is conversant in c, and the examples given are 'buggy' in hopes of stimulating use of the debugger. However, the debugger does not work according to the book, and there is inadequate info to troubleshoot it.

This book is for those who have up-to-date c skills, not for newbies.

A great book to beginners 11 Nov 2014
By Pedro - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This book is truly amazing. I never used Xcode before (although I have previous knowledge on programming languages) and felt myself very comfortable with this book.
I really appreciated the author's approach. A well-paced book.
Even the mistakes and errors were on purpose most of the times.
Every button, tip and hint worked as expected from the beginning.

I strongly recommends “Xcode 5 Start to Finish” to anyone that want to learn how to use Xcode.
A book like no other.

Great book but example code very "national". 7 July 2014
By Jouko Riikonen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Well yes, book indeed covers almost everything related to Xcode 5. Alas the example that is used trough-out the book is about (American) football i.e. passer rating tool. Here in Europe we play soccer and use meters instead of yards. Only few enthusiast even understand the rules of this game here. So from my perspective the example codes are not that illustrative.

Organization of the book is OK as well as the lay-out and typography. Pictures are used where appropriate.
You do need to understand Objective-C before touching this book!
