5.0 out of 5 stars No hate. 27 May 2014
Edition:with Kinect|Verified Purchase
I love it. I am not some console fan boy, I love pc as well but I expected less! I used this for the first time playing thief and I felt immersed in a splice of pc and console experience, a lovely OS and user friendly and for the hardcore tech fans, they specs are great, it runs smoothly and looks beautiful. Worth paying for live to use it. The controller is also lovely to use. My only criticism is the install time for some games:)

Loving it. The problem is the reduced games and app and all the time upgrading. Also the downloads take forever. But is fun and once is all set up its work fine. Very happy for my new and fist video game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Xbox One is a Top Notch Console 25 Nov 2013
Edition:with Kinect
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The following is written in the context of X360/PS3/PS4 -all consoles I own and enjoy in their own right.

I start with a summary in [1] and if you want more in depth coverage please continue on to the other sections:
[2] Improvements vs X360/PS3
[3] What's worse vs X360/PS3
[4] Exclusive Features
[5] Missing Features
[6] Debateable Features
[7] Useful notes if you are considering buying an X1 or have bought an X1.

[1] ***SUMMARY***
The Xbox One deserves 4.5 out of 5 as the games are gorgeous, the dash is clean & crisp and combined with Microsoft's attempt to innovate further via Kinect 2.0 & TV control, the X1 is worthy of a next generation label. Moreover, the console is impressively quiet even while playing games or watching blu-ray movies and looks wise, while it is just a box it is understated and elegant in my view. A further innovation, that I haven't tested personally, is the ability to access games you have purchased digitally, on another X1 console while you are present in front of the Kinect. Very smart. Microsoft have also tried to future proof certain aspects of the console's capability with 3 USB3 ports, 1 HDMI in, 1 infra-red in, WiFi direct and 4K video capability.

There is however room for improvement on the small gaming library and apps, Kinect is only integrated to the gameplay in some of the launch games and there is the limiting factor of the console not being made to stand vertically. The first two are admittedly a non-issue for me as I still have my old consoles, as is the vertical orientation but I can see this being a problem for some people. Therefore I think it's fair to take off half a star for these issues as they are minor.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Worth It 23 Jun 2014
By Luke
Edition:with Kinect
I had the Xbox 360, so for me this was an obvious upgrade. Before you read this review my personal opinion is that after having this console for over 7 months now I can say that I have no regrets on buying it even when it's original price was a lot higher than it was now - So I would say if you are looking to buy it then do it, because it's worth the money.

Software Performance The software on the Xbox is unreal. the processing power allows for a smooth gaming experience with Microsoft constantly updating the interface according to how the player want it. Party Chat system is much clearer than on the Xbox 360 and the ability to snap different apps is a brilliant idea alongside playing your game at the same time.

Hardware Xbox One - The console itself is a good looking product, the fact that it can play DVD's, Blueray, CD's, Games, Online Apps e.g. Netflix & YouTube makes it an all round home entertainment system.

Kinect - The Kinect that comes with the console is a complementary feature to the Xbox and is great to use. Voice commands work really well and the camera itself is good quality and picks up hand gestures really well.

Controller - I actually really prefer the controller of the Xbox One to the Xbox 360, It's a little lighter and has such a nicer feel to it and is easier on the hand for prolonged gaming.

Usability Microsoft created a whole new interface from the Xbox 360 so when I first booted it up I was surprised, but I must say I like it. A very Windows 8 style of tiles make navigation easy for the user.

Set Up Set up for the Xbox One could not be easier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy and waiting in anticipation for new games 26 May 2014
By Lex
Edition:with Kinect
Had a 360 for about four years (same console with no probs). Agonised for weeks about PS4 or ONE, I know if I made the right choice in a few years when the games list expands.

All in all, happy enough. Set up and downloaded updates in about 30 minutes with no real diffs, all working OK. Kids love the xbox on, video pause etc voice recognition.

I read about a customer taking all night to download updates! Not so, no time at all (standard SKY broadband).

Would have had a five with reasonably priced download games...

5.0 out of 5 stars My review 3 Jun 2014

Edition:with Kinect|Verified Purchase
The only bad thing about the Xbox One is, well for me, the Kinect sensor. My Kinect broke after 2 weeks but in general it's great to have and I'm ready for next gen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great family console + blu-ray player choice! 27 Nov 2013
Edition:with Kinect|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've been a gamer for over 30 years and got the Xbox on release day as a "family" purchase. I would have gone for (another) Playstation but my son has always wanted an Xbox as many of his friends use Xbox live and so I went with his preference- plus I liked the look of the Xbox's "stable" of early issue games, especially Forza. Thankfully, the Xbox has turned out to be a fantastic choice. There are already plenty of technical reviews, so suffice to say when it comes to gameplay and graphics the Xbox is an eye-opening pleasure to use. Also, being able to give voice commands to the Kinect and being recognised and "logged in" automatically by its face-recognition are both novelty touches (loved by my kids!) and time-saving conveniences which bode well for future game releases. Having had PCs and games consoles which sound like helicopters, we also love it that the Xbox is virtually silent when running, and so can be used as a decent blu-ray player. Only drawback for us is that the kinect sensor looks a bit bulky and eye-catching sat under the TV screen, though that is easy to forgive when you think about how well it works.
