OK, so the main reason I bought this item was for my nephew for an christmas present but then I thought well why not just get myself one at the same time...

This product plugs into exactly the same port on the xbox console as the last Wireless adaptor, you do receive a driver disk with the package but if you already have the latest dashboard from microsoft then you dont need to install the driver as its already there!!

My signal strength has doubled, as you would expect and it defintaely improves the speed as long as you have a Wireless N network. With the standard apaptor I could only stream Standard definition movies from Zune through the console but with the wireless N adpator I can now stream High definition films, clips etc.

I do agree with the other 2 reviews, a bit pricey but if you can afford it, have a Wireless N network then I would definately recommend this product.

If it had been slightly cheaper would have a got 5 stars

The 'N' W/less Network adaptor is a good piece of equipment, it is easy to use/setup and has good signal strength.

You are provided with a driver to install first so make sure that you install that before installing the hardware. Once the software is installed to your 360 you then simply dock the adaptor into the back of the 360 and plug the usb cable into the back (or front with no dock) and you're basically good to go.

However i must say that this is over priced. This could be sold at a much more cost effective price for the average consumer. I guess what you are paying for is peace of mind and ease of getting online without having some techincal knowledge surrounding networking solutions on the 360.

I looked into a possible alternative to getting online on the 360 using a technology called 'Power over Ethernet' however my laziness got the best of me and i decided to go for the 'N'...Psst!

If you have the patience it might be worth looking into more cost effective solutions but if you really cant be bothered then you might aswell go for this.

I would rate this wireless adaptor:

Signal strength: 4/5
Speed: 3/5
Overall: 3/5

Before I purchased this product, I had the other Xbox Wireless adapter, which I got 1-2 (out of 4) bars of signal and often kept disconnecting from Xbox Live or the EA Servers. Now with this adapter I now achieve 4 (full) bars of signal and have yet to be disconnected from anything. Therefore in my opinion it is worth the money.

Bear in mind to take advantage of this adapter with 802.11n (draft) technology you will need a router that supports 802.11n (draft) aswell.

I needed to buy the router aswell so all-in-all I paid £130 for the router and adapter. Which has drastically reduced my frustration levels (from disconnection) and significantly increased my signal strength and connection.

I bought this adaptor to replace my existing 'white' adaptor.

I have just switched broadband supplier, and have found that the signal strength received to my XBox 360 has dropped significantly. Whereas, under my previous supplier, I always received 3 bars on the 360's Network screen, the new supplier was resulting in between 1 and 3 bars, and sometimes dropping me out of XBox Live altogether. Not much fun when online gaming.

For your information, my router is on the 1st floor at the back of the house, and the XBox is downstairs, at the front of the house, so a reasonable distance from each other.

I did some substantial research before buying the 'N' adaptor. It's quite a hefty price tag for something that I worried may not actually show any improvements. That said, I'm really impressed, and am now receiving (for the most part) the full 4 bars (never had that before!), occasionally dropping down to 3 bars (still fine for online gaming, with no drop out).

Because I already had the previous 'white' adaptor, I didn't bother with the install disk (which some have reported problems with). I simply unplugged the old adaptor and plugged in the new one. I had to turn my router off and back on again before it recognised it, but that was all. From then on in, no problems.

So, if like me, for whatever reason (changing broadband supplier, moving the XBox to a different location), you're no longer getting the reception you had before with your old 'white' adaptor, then I can confidently recommend that the 'N' Adaptor 'should' fix the problem. I say 'should' because nothing is certain..... except death of course..... but that's for another time and place! :-)

I'll keep it simple, Previously i had the first wireless adapter which worked off the 802.11g wireless, it was ok but quite often i got disconnected from the network as the adapter wasn't strong enough to pick the signal up from the router downstairs.

This new "black 802.11n" version is far better, i get at least 2/5 bars and xbox live is 10 times better. its not cheap but i recommend it over the first version! Only 4 stars as i still get disconnected from time to time, its rare compared to when i had the first version, for anyone worried about connection problems, this works with ALL xbox 360's regardless of age and works on a plug and play basis.
