4.0 out of 5 stars Post price drop blues 26 April 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Having noticed this bundle's price has dropped down again and to below £290 this time at that and seeing I was one of those who pre-ordered it late last summer and paid the few pennies shy of the £340 Amazon launch day price just over a month ago I do feel a tad hard done by at this precise moment but......

I've found it to be a very nice addition to my home entertainment set up. It is very pleasing on the eye, the R2 bleeps may be a small detail but very novel and amusing nonetheless, the large 320 gig hard drive is very useful with plenty of space for installing all your games off their discs and any HD movies you may fancy buying online, the white Kinect sensor is unusual and thus extra appealing to those who are in to it(I myself sold it and the Star Wars Kinect game the bundle comes with on to people who wanted them which helped bring my personal cost down a fair bit) and the C-3 controller is just so funky and I was proved right in buying an extra controller in advance because I just don't want to use it, it has been sat on top of the console to make it an extra eye catching display piece since the day it arrived.

This is my first ever venture in to XBOX, though I've had all the various Playstations over its 3 generations so far, this format is very new to me and though I was hardly overjoyed about having to pay the sub for online gaming in the guise of the Gold Membership thing, you can get 12 months for just under 25 quid if you shop about and are willing to accept electronic delivery of the code.

I've bought Gears of War 3, Halo Reach and Forza 4 so far, obviously all titles I could never get on PS3 and yeah all three are very impressive games indeed. I've also bought/downloaded Toy Soldiers Cold War from the XBOX online marketplace set up and it is great fun, well worth the 1200 Microsoft Points it costs! I've been won over by this platform so quickly I even pre-ordered Max Payne 3 on Xbox rather than on PS3 earlier today!

One thing I would like to add here as a slight word of caution is that playing Cold War last week the console did freeze/crash, it's only happened the once and I have been using it to the max daily as I have a broken foot at the moment but things like that are always a worry on a new bit of kit, if it happens again anytime soon I may get in touch with Amazon about it just as a form of precaution.

To put it bluntly whether you are an XBOX veteran, or brand new to this platform like me, and fond of Star Wars it was just too tempting to pass by at £340 but at £287 it's a no brainer.........you have just got to get it!

And last but by no means least, I'd like to thank Amazon Customer Services for their sterling efforts in jumping all over Yodel in Enfield to get my console to me on launch day eventually. Why the forces that be at Amazon UK should choose this outfit as one of their carriers is beyond me but my relentless nagging and whinging on the phone all day long did finally pay dividends when a Yodel employee obviously on his way home turned up in his own small private car late teatime with my XBOX. Without Amazon's mighty clout leaning on them all afternoon who knows what week or even month Yodel might have got round to delivering it to me, they are nothing short of useless from all my own previous experiences with them.

....Like ....really interacting.

OK I have to admit that this was bought for the kids and had a bit of nostalgia chucked in there for me too as the Star Wars bundle whisked me back to 1977 and queuing at the Woolwich Coronet to buy a Stormtrooper poster... (come on,... way cooler than Jedi'). But i think I'm rapidly becoming a convert to a games console.

The kids look at me as if I have just been born as I am still AMAZED by the level of interaction that you, the user has with the TV/Game console.. It's mind blowing. I was trying to convey the idea of going back in time and explaining to a 7 year old that you would be interacting with the droids in Star Wars and actually learning to be a Jedi... A child's dream... wow..(could you have imagined that back in 1977...??) all on a huge flat screen hung on the wall. How time has shifted on and technology has leaped ahead. ... yes, my kids still look at me as if I'm mad, as if talking to a games console and leaping about the room, bullying badies, being trained by Yoda.... Yoda!!! AND siding with Wookies is all natural?

As you can guess by now I still think that whoever put this technology in place should be knighted. It's taken our usually lethargic, teenager with a chore allergy on an overnight journey from sitting... and sitting to spending ages, leaping around and actually moving..! (ok... but she still won't hoover and pick up stuff). Our youngest is just bonkers and goes crazy on the dance section of the Star Wars game. It really is great fun., as I repeatedly annoy them with `Do or do not... there is no try' (Yoda impersonation optional)

It's hard to sum up a review for both the game and console without perhaps writing an essay. Short answer is that the console is well thought out and brilliantly executed. The setup is a doddle, moving through the menus is intuitive and the sound when pumped through your amp is awesome... (Although listening to hours of light sabre noises and deep, rumbling explosions can become a little irritating... but that's why wine was invented for parents' right...?).

The game itself is easy to pick up and great fun. The graphics aren't mind blowing compared to others that I've now seen for this platform but the game play is wonderful and wraps you up in the story.

The design of the limited edition controller and case is awesome... you feel like you could be holding one of C3P0's appendages.. (...now missus...), but the whole design is topped by R2D2 talking to you as you power the unit up and open/close the disk flap...Genius !

To quote the great Yoda... `Adventure? Excitement? A Jedi craves not these things'... well they would if they had Star Wars on limited edition 360 Kinect.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Force is strong with this one. 12 April 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
As a keen Xbox gamer and a Star Wars fan, this was a must-have for me. I have to say I wasn't disappointed. What you get is, basically, a slim Xbox 360 with a custom paint job, custom power up/down and disc eject/close sounds, a 320Gb HDD and a blue power light. Also included is a gold C-3PO themed controller, (which is very nice, but shows fingerprints really badly so I'll be putting mine into a display case), a white Kinect sensor, a black headset, and the Kinect Star Wars and Kinect Adventures games. A month's free Gold membership for Xbox Live, a downloadable C-3PO character for KSW and 480 free Microsoft points completes the bundle.

In my opinion this console is not only very cool (you'll be the envy of your mates) but also an investment. Limited Edition consoles can become quite sought-after, and anything with the Star Wars name on it is hugely collectible. My advice? If you can afford it, get one. If you cant, sell a kidney and get one anyway.

!DISCLAIMER! The kidney thing was a joke. I wouldn't dream of actually suggesting you sell a kidney (or any body part) for a flashy toy.
