Having noticed this bundle's price has dropped down again and to below £290 this time at that and seeing I was one of those who pre-ordered it late last summer and paid the few pennies shy of the £340 Amazon launch day price just over a month ago I do feel a tad hard done by at this precise moment but......
I've found it to be a very nice addition to my home entertainment set up. It is very pleasing on the eye, the R2 bleeps may be a small detail but very novel and amusing nonetheless, the large 320 gig hard drive is very useful with plenty of space for installing all your games off their discs and any HD movies you may fancy buying online, the white Kinect sensor is unusual and thus extra appealing to those who are in to it(I myself sold it and the Star Wars Kinect game the bundle comes with on to people who wanted them which helped bring my personal cost down a fair bit) and the C-3 controller is just so funky and I was proved right in buying an extra controller in advance because I just don't want to use it, it has been sat on top of the console to make it an extra eye catching display piece since the day it arrived.
This is my first ever venture in to XBOX, though I've had all the various Playstations over its 3 generations so far, this format is very new to me and though I was hardly overjoyed about having to pay the sub for online gaming in the guise of the Gold Membership thing, you can get 12 months for just under 25 quid if you shop about and are willing to accept electronic delivery of the code.
I've bought Gears of War 3, Halo Reach and Forza 4 so far, obviously all titles I could never get on PS3 and yeah all three are very impressive games indeed. I've also bought/downloaded Toy Soldiers Cold War from the XBOX online marketplace set up and it is great fun, well worth the 1200 Microsoft Points it costs! I've been won over by this platform so quickly I even pre-ordered Max Payne 3 on Xbox rather than on PS3 earlier today!
One thing I would like to add here as a slight word of caution is that playing Cold War last week the console did freeze/crash, it's only happened the once and I have been using it to the max daily as I have a broken foot at the moment but things like that are always a worry on a new bit of kit, if it happens again anytime soon I may get in touch with Amazon about it just as a form of precaution.
To put it bluntly whether you are an XBOX veteran, or brand new to this platform like me, and fond of Star Wars it was just too tempting to pass by at £340 but at £287 it's a no brainer.........you have just got to get it!
And last but by no means least, I'd like to thank Amazon Customer Services for their sterling efforts in jumping all over Yodel in Enfield to get my console to me on launch day eventually. Why the forces that be at Amazon UK should choose this outfit as one of their carriers is beyond me but my relentless nagging and whinging on the phone all day long did finally pay dividends when a Yodel employee obviously on his way home turned up in his own small private car late teatime with my XBOX. Without Amazon's mighty clout leaning on them all afternoon who knows what week or even month Yodel might have got round to delivering it to me, they are nothing short of useless from all my own previous experiences with them.
