Product Description

Keep an eye on your temperatures! Although many refrigerators and freezers come with built in thermometers these days, there are still a significant number in many households and more that do not and this can lead to the following scenario happening….. You have just returned from a long day at work and there is nothing you want more than to eat the lovely casserole you saved from last nights meal. However, on opening the fridge to take out the casserole you notice that some of the food stored inside has started to smell and that the fridge does not feel as cold as it should be. This is the third time in the space of a month but yet again without a thermometer on the fridge, who knows how long ago the temperature had risen and therefore, whether it is safe or not to eat the food. How frustrating and more wasted food!! Looks as though it is going to have to be cuppa soup again; not what you were looking forward to eating after a long day, when hungry and tired. There is a solution…. The Xavax Refrigerator/Freezer Thermometer brought to you by Hama, which can prevent those frustrating moments and save you constantly throwing away food by providing you with a thermometer which will make it easier to maintain the recommended internal temperature of refrigerators (2-8°C) and freezers (at least -18°C). Result! Having the correct internal temperature keeps food fresh longer and limits and prevents bacterial growth. The large digital display makes it super easy to read and the device can display the temperature in °C or Fahrenheit with a range from -35 °C up to + 40 °C. Furthermore, it is easily attached and removed by means of the hook and loop tape (adhesive attachment on the back of the thermometer) and it has the ability to store the min and max temperatures in its data memory. Therefore, in the future should the temperature of your fridge or freezer rise, you will notice via the thermometer placed inside so you can do something about it before it is too late! Brilliant!

Nice little unit-takes time to register the temp-be patient. Good idea to have max and min temps in the memory. Shame there is no way of fixing the unit, but I just put a bit of double sided tape on the back, but this is not a problem.

A nice clear display and appears to record temperature accurately (at least, it agrees with another make of thermometer to within 1 degree C.). However there are a couple of little niggles:

    1. The only means of attachment were a two bits of velcro. Not really suitable for use in a fridge/freezer.

    2. No instructions. Perhaps the vendor thought none were needed and it is straightforward to use.

However, on the plus side, it does say that it will record temperatures of between +30C. and -30C. In fact I bought it for testing a freezer whose thermostat seemed to have failed. The thermometer recorded down to -35C. Have you ever tried to serve up soft-scoop ice cream with a temperature of -35C.??

At first, I thought the unit was faulty because, when it went down beyond -35C., it turned itself off. This appears to be only because it had been taken well out of its range. Maybe the freezer was even less than -35C. Anyhow, since the freezer was obviously faulty we've bought a new one and the thermometer now works perfectly.

Good basic thermometer with very easy to read large display. Made me appreciate how the temperature varies quite a bit in different areas of the fridge. Good value for money.

My fridge, after all, had been secretly heating up in the night - naughty fridge. But thanks to this simple little device, I now have all the evidence I need to buy a new fridge. Case closed!

Rather than guessing on a analogue -30 to +30 scale, this gives exact temps. It can be left in the freezer and the screen still works. It has a min/max memory. It is accurate and easy to read. It doesn't have any leads - the temperature sensor must be built inside it. Thoroughly recommended

I thought this thermometer was faulty when I first started using it. The temperature was hardly readable and wherever I put it it read the same - 10.2 degrees F. Then I discovered the plastic protective cover over the face, and peeled it off! It turns out to be a great little device, and very useful. What a stupid idea though to put a transparent cover on it with a temperature of 10.2F printed on it. Instructions would have been useful.

Simple, small device, just what I wanted. Clear display even if at the back of your fridge. Small but stable, so can sit on any shelf. It also comes with a little mount for affixing to your fridge, but I prefer the ability to move it around. It is interesting to see that you can set you fridge at 7 degrees and it actually manages 5 degrees or less (except during the current heatwave when it manages 7 degrees) - thus you needn't turn your dial down so much, saving energy and stopping food freezing at the back. It is also curiously interesting to observe the temperature in your fridge every time you open the door...

I bought this item having had to purchase a new Fridge/Freezer which has no digital temperature display.I am very pleased with this thermometer but also surprised at how the temperature inside the fridge alters continually without changing the control.
The only minor comment is the self adhesive strip. I found this not very effective and the thermometer fell off after having stuck it onto internal fridge wall. I now have it free standing, which does not appear to have any adverse effect on the monitoring.
