I bought these and was hoping for a release from the drudgery that is lane swimming.

Pros:
They work underwater.
They are comfortable.
They stay on unless you kick off the side of the pool really hard.
They work in the steam room.
They have no cables.

Cons:
They don't have a shuffle facility. (lost a star for that)
Sound isn't that good, unless you are fully submerged. (lost a star for that)
They are quite fragile.
If you turn your back, somebody will nick them.

If you don't need shuffle, add a star.
If you listen to podcasts where the sound quality isn't that important, add a star.
If you were the toerag who nicked my pair, I take comfort in the fact that they need a non-standard USB cable (supplied) so you will have to stick with my somewhat eclectic taste in music, you thieving bar steward.

It should be noted that I haven't decided to replace my pair with an identical set, I am looking for an underwater player with shuffle. If I can't find one, I may well come back to this, so though I only gave it 3 stars, it is by no means a turkey.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

EDIT 17/06/2012

Well, I bought another pair of these in the end. They fit very comfortably, and allow me to swim and listen to music. The sound quality isn't first class, unless you are fully submerged, in which case it is excellent. Also, as stated, there is no shuffle facility.

HOWEVER

Compared to the competition, (and I know, as in the last couple of weeks I've tried most of them) this stands head and shoulders above them all. I have upgraded my review to five stars, because, relative to all the other underwater MP3 players out there, it is much, much better. Sure, it has its faults, but they are outweighed by the fact that you can actually wear the damn thing in comfort without it falling off.

After swimming for years on a daily basis the tedium was getting to me. So I decided after reading a lot of mixed reviews on several waterproof headphones to go for this pair of Xsories Aqua Note Headphones.

All I can say is after wearing them everyday for the past few weeks is they do everything i want them to without any bells and whistles. I found them easy to charge and transfering my music through Windows Media Player was straight forward. They have very clear unmuffled sound quality which does not become any less clear as the water lapped around my ears( i am a breaststroke person). Also a help was the outside noise was still audible so you could hear when needed but blocked out enough to enjoy your own music.I have still not recharged them and they are going strong on the first charge!. They have very simple controls, an on off switch and 2 x rocker switches one for the volume + - and the other to either by a quick press to move on a track or a longer press which fast fwds through the track you are playing. There is no option to change album unless you do a lot of pressing so i would suggest load the albums you want to hear in the order you want to listen to them. This is not a problem as I do not want to fiddle as i swim. The only other thing about the sound I would say is there is no bass, which is not a major thing to me. Lastly I found the uncluttered style with no wires or bits to get in the way was a great bonus. The earphones were a bit fiddly until I got into the habit of putting them in the same way each time and after that it was not a problem. You get 2x pairs of waterproof earplugs and the same for landwear. All in all its a great bit of kit and I would recommend it to anyone out there who is sick of swimming lengths by themselves.

Very pleased with performance and comfort. Looked at every waterproof MP3 player available and decided on the Xsories Auqua Note due to the fact that I like the idea of it coming on a fixed headband to keep earphones in place, and that they do. Loading up music and handling of the player is very easy, straight forward and quick. Once in pool they fit comfortably and after a few minor adjustments for comfort they stayed in place for a good hour and a half swim. Recommend them to anyone.

Really easy to use, a solid and reliable product!

I am a regular swimmer but have to admit I get bored going up and down just listening to the constant gurgling of water and in my ears. This product haves made me a lot more motivated to get down to the pool as I can listen to my favourite tracks while charging up and down like a sea lion! It's simple to use and the 2GB memory is more than enough, the sound is good quality and it's an attractive product. It's also comfortable, easy to wedge under my swimming hat and no irritation. Highly recommended for swimmers.....I also tried it while I was stand up paddle boarding and had a really good time!

*** Update 14/05/13
Would definitely recommend looking at the Sony W273 for the sake of an extra £10. I have now tried it in the water and it is amazing! Put it on first if where a cap. The cap can come down real close so the player is just outside. Will stay put! The sound quality does not change when you go in the water which through me to start with but I can't sing its praises high enough. If you are lucky enough to get a working Xsories then all well and good but if you have issues try the Sony.

***Update: 08/05/13
Have just received the Sony W273 (NWZ-W273) to see if its any better and WOW! And I've only got it out of the box. 3 mins charge gets you 60 mins playback! Supports shuffle & folders - all of which I have tried and it works. Have not had a chance to swim in it yet but the design is so much closer to your head I feel it will be good. Do not waste your time or money on this product - look at the Sony version.

*******Its a shame as I really wanted to be one of the people who got a good one that just worked! Unfortunately, I have tried two aqua notes and both are being returned faulty.
Its easy to charge, easy to copy music to, volume is good in the water - all the things you want. Yes, it did seem to slow my swimming down as I made sure it was in my ears etc I could have put that down to teething issues.
However, the biggest problem for me is the new shuffle feature. Sounds like a really useful addition in theory. However, the first one was only shuffling 6 songs out of 30! I took those songs off to see if there was just an issue with the others. Nope. It just found the next 6 it wanted to shuffle and stayed with them.
