Product Description

Product Description

The XShot 2.0 is a compact telescopic camera extender designed to get the photographer in the picture! It attaches to any compact digital camera or camcorder. Extends to 94cm and closes to 22.9cm. Ideal for travelers, families, social media, sporting events and vloggers for making videos. With the XShot 2.0 no one gets left out of the picture. Whether you use it for group shots, video or traveling solo, this camera extender allows you to be in the picture and capture the full background. The XShot 2.0 can support cameras/camcorders that weigh up to 1.25lbs. Not for DSLRs. Supplied in great Retail Packaging.

During a trip to France, Michael Daoud, the co-founder of XShot, found it difficult to take pictures of him and his wife while sightseeing. Michael would hold the camera and extend his arm as far as possible to take a picture of he and his wife but the result was always disappointing, especially if they were trying to capture the background in the picture.

The idea for the XShot came to Michael when he was at a park in front of the famous Louvre Museum in Paris. Michael tried to capture a photo of him and his wife with the Louvre in the background but because the camera was only at arm's length and so close to their faces, only a small part of the Louvre Museum was in the picture. Michael realized that if his arm was a little longer he could take much better pictures. As a result he came up with the idea of having a telescopic arm that could hold the camera and be extended to take a full picture of the subjects and the background.

Michael enlisted the help of his friend John Stump, an inventor and mechanical engineer, and XShot was born. With XShot, taking a self-portrait looks like someone else took the picture, especially because of the extended 37 inches of reach it provides. It's just amazing! Every time Michael and John tested XShot with their families they were amazed at the great results.

They knew that other travelers such as themselves would love having an XShot along with them whether traveling around the world, hiking, out on a boat, or simply at home with the family. No more close-up mug shots, hello XShot!

3.0 out of 5 stars It twists side to side 19 Mar 2014

Got it for the GoPro for Snowboarding, It's a decent little sturdy pole and extends a fair bit, but there's a fair bit of twist in the joints which had the camera knocking about a bit, which wasn't a problem if I'm honest on the slope, but would have liked no give on this!

i brought this before heading off to whistler for a snowboard holiday, the pole was well made and very strong and it took a few tumbles to prove the point, works perfect with my go pro hero.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but can break easily. 10 Mar 2014
By C88
I got one these to use with my GoPro, and for the most part it is good, however it got damaged quite easily and now no longer works properly. For taking photos with a digital camera I'd highly recommend it and give it 5 stars, but my review is based on my experience with using a GoPro camera. As others have said it obviously doesn't come with the GoPro tripod mount, but you can pick those up cheaply (especially on ebay).

Pros:
- Small and compact, so more ideal for travelling than the clear non-extending GoPole Evo I also have.
- Extends far enough to get a decent shot of yourself.

Cons:
- Not ideal for use in snow or water (melted snow left the inside wet when closed - could lead to rust and already hard to open smoothly).
- Slightly shaky footage sometimes (due to the thin multiple sections) compared to the GoPole Evo.
- The metal seems quite soft. The lowest section got bent in very low speed collision between a soft bag and someones leg - now has sharp metal 'crack' on one side where it bent, and the upper sections no longer fit properly and are separate from the handle and bottom section. I've tried repairing it but couldn't fix it properly.

For recording video with a GoPro, if it's just being used when walking it's good and would highly recommend it, but if using it for sports/high speed/bumpy or wet conditions I might go with something a little stronger or more sturdy, unless you're a bit more careful with it.

As my one has now broken and doesn't extend to it's full length without coming apart, I'm undecided if I should get another one of these, or splash out and get the extending GoPole Reach. But for most uses I would recommend this one.

Does the job it says and will hold your GoPro ( I have the HD2 ). The locking wheel does need a tweek to tighten it, but I used this whilst climbing recently and it worked a treat.

Bought this for snowboarding and I couldn't be happier. Very light and resilient to being dropped/hit etc. Get the Go Pro tripod adapter and you've got a great way to get awesome wide angle action shots.

A wonderful creative tool that revolutionised my GoPro photography. Now, instead of fighting my way to the front of the crowd, I can stand at the back and in effect use my GoPro like a periscope, capturing not just the subject but also the wider gathering of people around the subject!

People look at me and don't understand what I am doing - they sometimes ask me "is it a metal detector?" Ha Ha.

It's really handy being telescopic - although security guards can give me a few looks as if they are wondering if my compacted stick is some kind of truncheon or weapon.

Mounting on the stick is handy when going walkabout as the GoPro isn't really easy to hand hold on it's own to carry about.
