4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent spy/adventure/action story 13 April 2014
By No More Mr. Mice Guy TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:Board book
This is an excellent action/adventure story, with very good artwork, which, while being ’European’, is also very reminiscent of old-fashioned American and British newspaper strip artwork, the sort of thing we used to occasionally see in American non-superhero comics many years ago.

This sixteenth instalment of the series sees our hero Jason McLane (a.k.a. XIII) and the entire cast of fugitives in exile in Mexico, lodging with an ex-army colleague of General Carrington. The senior members of the team are busy trying to decipher the riddle of the three silver watches, when Betty gives them the clue. Meanwhile in Washington, Giordano, head of the NSA finds that General Whittaker is no longer taking his calls, so he sends the boys around… While in Mexico, Felicity manages to escape yet again, and the fugitives send a team to locate the treasure, now that they have deciphered the location. However, not all plans go smoothly, and they run into someone else also after the gold. On the bright side, Giordano is finally being brought to book by the President, though Felicity manages to turn up in time to give him one last roll of the dice…

It may sound like an old fashioned spy/action adventure, and it reminded me visually of the old James Bond and Modesty Blaise newspaper strips – though this is in colour – but it is interesting enough to keep me reading more of the series.
