At this price the 6870 is a must-have, unless you are into some seriously hard-code graphics and *MUST* have the absolute top-of-the-range.

For most users, it provides more than enough oomph, rating 7.8 on my Win7-64 performance index. I used this to replace a GTX 280 that rated 7.1, used much more power, and ran insanely hot. The 6870 stays nice and cool, nearer 40 Celsius (the 280 was 75 Celsius).

Additionally, this card has plenty of outputs. Note that one of the DVI is a single, so you won't be able to drive 2 massive monitors on the DVIs - but if you use the mini DP ports you should be fine.

When I powered up after installing this, I thought I'd forgotten to reconnect the power - the silence was deafening. It turns out I'd just become accustomed to the much noisier 280, and now my PC seems eerily quiet.

The only downside is that in the winter I might need to turn the central heating on now, since the 280 is no longer serving that function for me.

I was upgrading to this card from a HD 5750, and let me make it clear, this card completely destroys my old 5750.

I have a bad case with very a bad airflow. Yet this card still idles around 45°C - 48°C and under 100% load I haven't got it to go over 77°C

I'm playing Metro 2033 Maxed out, as well as Crysis 2 (with the Ultra Upgrade) Crysis and many others, all have an average frame rate of 30 - 40FPS.

Seriously, at this price don't miss out!

I bought this after spending about 3 years at the mercy of my onboard graphics chip (geforce 7200). It scored around 3.2 in the windows 7 experience index for gaming and after installing this, that score has shot up to 7.8 - I have been playing games with all the settings at their highest at 1650 x 1050 resolution which before I could only dream of! the fan on the card is quiet which with my case's poor airflow is surprising. It was a bit of a squeeze fitting the card but with some clever in case feng shui, it was possible - I am certainly considering buying a larger and better ventilated case come next payday.

The package containts an amusing 'Do not disturd - I'm gaming' door sign, on which you can see details of your card (serial no, etc) which is handy when updating the drivers/ looking through FAQs, etc. It does come with an adaptor to harness the power of two of these cards should you wish to install two in your PC - For my needs, I think one will do the job perfectly well but I certainly see the appeal when I tested my games.

Also worth noting that I found the same card elsewhere on amazon for an extra £20, so at this price, it's certainly worth the money! Oh and check your PSU before you install, recommend 500W minimum and you will need two 6pin PCIe power jacks - 2 molex to 6 pin adaptors are available quite cheaply online or in your local PC hardware shop.
