At this price the 6870 is a must-have, unless you are into some seriously hard-code graphics and *MUST* have the absolute top-of-the-range.
For most users, it provides more than enough oomph, rating 7.8 on my Win7-64 performance index. I used this to replace a GTX 280 that rated 7.1, used much more power, and ran insanely hot. The 6870 stays nice and cool, nearer 40 Celsius (the 280 was 75 Celsius).
Additionally, this card has plenty of outputs. Note that one of the DVI is a single, so you won't be able to drive 2 massive monitors on the DVIs - but if you use the mini DP ports you should be fine.
When I powered up after installing this, I thought I'd forgotten to reconnect the power - the silence was deafening. It turns out I'd just become accustomed to the much noisier 280, and now my PC seems eerily quiet.
The only downside is that in the winter I might need to turn the central heating on now, since the 280 is no longer serving that function for me.
