5.0 out of 5 stars great mid range card 23 Aug 2011
By I
Bought this card about 2 weeks ago, great card for the price and for a budget.
Installs easily, isnt too big (fitted in my micro atx case easily) runs cool and overclocks fairly well.
With my 4gb of 800mhz ddr2 ram and core2quad q8300 @2.5ghz it runs most games at max at 1920x1080, bar metro 2033 where i have to turn the settings down to high (instead of very high) to get decent performance. My next upgrade will be on my motherboard case and cpu, i have a feeling my q8300 is bottlenecking quite a few games and to really get the most out of this gpu you need an i5 or a high 9 series phenom 2. for the money this is a great card and i recommend you buy it, you wont regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid upgrade and excellent purchase 16 Jan 2012

My old PC died and after reading an article in PC Gamer about building a gaming rig for about £400. I decided to give it a try. The card itself feels a bit flimsy bit that is probably the outer case. It requires a 6-pin connector and a decent power supply.

Installation was simple: plug it into the mobo, power it up and away you go. The supplied driver disk had the necessary files and software but there's a newer version on the website. Strongly suggest you go there to get the latest and greatest update.

Thoroughly recommended upgrade, despite it's age this video card still has what it takes and can handle all modern games with ease.

My rig: Windows 7 64 bit, AMD Phenom II, 8GB RAM

5.0 out of 5 stars XFX Radeon HD 6850 - Bad Start 16 Nov 2011

I purchased this product for a complete PC build. Once I installed the latest AMD drivers the fan started to idle at 70% speed, this was rather noisy. I spent a good few days emailing XFX support and eventually they gave me some files and a guide to flash the graphics card bios. This fixed the high fan idle speed and I've had no problems since. The graphics card performs well (~105fps) on max settings for StarCraft 2.
