I bought this cable to connect my laptop to my living-room TV: I wanted to be able to hook the laptop up occasionally, without having to fumble around behind the telly every time.
Overall, this cable does the job admirably: it's very reasonably priced (high-street stores, take note!), and image and sound quality are, as should be expected of HDMI connections, excellent. 5m should be enough for users in all but the largest of rooms (using cables much longer than this could be a bit unpredictable, anyway, as signal attenuation starts to become a problem), and its flat design allows it to sit under rugs, or along/behind skirting boards or beadings.
A couple of things to note: while the cable itself seems pretty solid, the manner in which it is packaged could be improved. My cable arrived tightly coiled, meaning that the connector near the innermost part of the coil was bent, and the adjacent cable flex therefore somewhat stressed. I would imagine that, if a cable like this is going to fail, the most likely location of failure would be at/near the connectors. I've hooked this end into the back of my TV, so that it won't see too much flexing in future. The 'busy' end of the cable, which will trail, and be plugged into various devices, is therefore the end which was on the outside of the cable spool. Most won't really care about this, but wouldn't you hate to have a 5m-long cable with a breakage at one of the connectors?
On a related note, be aware of the fact that these connectors are straight, rather than right-angled. If your flat-screen TV is wall-mounted, or you simply have limited wall clearance, a flush HDMI socket will see the cable sticking out a good few centimetres from the back of the TV. It's best to avoid bending the cable too much, as well: be generous with the radius of any bend you put it through.
Other than that, most will find this cable to do a splendid job. Buy one!
