Product Description

The VGA Switch has two RGBHV and two Audio signals. Output one set of signal to a monitor or an audio device. When the Xbox 360TM game screen and a PC have to share one monitor, the VGA Switch helps you avoid the hassles of removing and plugging in VGA cables repeatedly. The VGA Switch will allow you to have the Xbox 360TM and an HDTV plugged in at the same time without having to disconnect any cables. VGA Switch can keep the input signal consistent without any increase or decrease in quality. Audio output signal port is compatible with a standard AV and a headphone port. Will support all resolution modes for the Xbox 360TM and PC. The screen frequency depends on the display device's frequency. Xbox 360TM VGA Switch will never change the frequency.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good switch box, rubbish VGA cable supplied 4 Feb. 2008
I bought this switch box as I have a laptop and Xbox 360, both with VGA cables, that I wanted to share the VGA port on my 22" Samsung 'S' panel monitor, without having to to keep swapping the cables in and out of the back of my monitor as I did at present.

This switch works well although I found the VGA cable supplied with the switch box only provided a decent picture up to VGA resolutions (800x600) which was not good enough for my purposes. Using any resolution above this would result in terrible ghosting.

I bought a 1m Premium SVGA Monitor Cable from Lindy to replace the VGA cable supplied with the box and the picture quality is now excellent and I'm very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Problems after restarting PC 28 Jan. 2010
By Txedo
My monitor is a 22" with 1680x1050 native resolution, my VGA card is an ATI Radeon 9600, and I do not use the VGA cable supplied with this item.

After trying many switches, I felt very happy when I connected this switch for the first time (my PC was already started) and could use my XBOX 360 and my PC with its native resolution. The problem came when I restarted the PC, then the desktop couldn't get into the screen and I was forzed to downgrade my resolution to 1280x1024. But, if I connect the PC directly to the monitor, then turn the PC on (to get the 1680x1050 native resolution), and then connect the switch, it will work fine as the first time, but the problem reappears when I restart the PC again.

How can I fix this?

EDIT: I fixed it by configuring the graphic card at the ATI Panel. I switched off the "auto-detect resolution" option. Since it works perfectly, I rate it with 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best xbox vga box out there 15 April 2008
By Mr T.
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Bought this today. Would recommend it to anyone that is considering hooking up their xbox via a vga cable as it saves so much hassle. Picture quality is good even though im using the supplied crappy cable - but do what others have suggested and use that cable going from your pc to the vga box.

overall im pleased with the porduct and i can now enjoy HD gaming on my pc screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Product, Suprisingly Small! 9 Jun. 2010
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Extremely quick delivery, i chose standard delivery and received the dispatch email the next day and the product the day after that! The actual switch is nice and compact, fit's in with my black theme. Only downside is the VGA cable provided, it can produce terrible ghosting as i've found out, get another and it should be ok! Don't let this put you off though, it's easy installation and a really useful product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Box Shocking Cable 3 Feb. 2009
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The box does exactly what it needs to do, extremely easy to set up and simple to use.

What ever you do buy a replacement cable NOW. I read the previous reviews and thought no way can a cable be that bad. Oh yes it can, never seen anything like it. The ghosting was terrible, truly awful!

Buy a quality cable to go with this and there is no problem.

Enjoy the ease of switching comp to 360 :D

3.0 out of 5 stars annoying 17 July 2010
By Jamie
i ordered this box and it looked like it would do the job brilliantly but i soon realised that actually its very annoying.

i plugged my computer cable into the box and turned on my computer and then found that it had changed my resolution to 1280 by 720 (i have a native res of 1600 by 900) and whenever i tried to change the resolution back to 1600 by 900 my monitor would just display "input not supported". So i plugged my computer cable directly into my monitor and it worked fine and if i took it out and plugged it back into the box it would work fine, weird.

But i wanted it to be plugged into the box all the time so i fiddled about with the nvidia control panel (i have an nvidia geforce 9800gt) and changed the resolution there to 1600 by 900 i then restarted my computer and although the resolution was 1600 by 900 half of the screen was off the monitor so i tried changing resolution again to no avail but again when i plugged the computer directly into the monitor it was fine and acting normal again.

i have not advanced from this stage since can anybody help me?

4.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't seem to work fully with Mac 6 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase
Bought this to hook my Mac mini and XBOX into. As the product *superficially* works I've given it 4 stars. The main trouble is that, despite using high-quality VGA cables, the image on my LG Monitor (LG E2242C-BN 22 inch LED Wide Screen Monitor - Black) at 1920x1080 is skewed to one side, there is a black margin on the left of the screen which is about 2 inches wide, and the 1920x1080 viewport is squashed into a smaller space to the right of the screen. However, the image on the XBOX 360 is perfect, so I can't fault that, and displays flawlessly at 1920x1080. If it wasn't for this niggling viewport problems it would have a full 5 stars. As it is I can't live with having a distorted display image on my Mac, especially not when it's getting used the most.

Have contacted customer support and if I hear of any resolution/workaround I'll update this review with it. Unless someone can offer me some guidance on how to correctly get the Mac screen to display, I'm going to have to say this product doesn't work that well for a Mac/XBOX setup.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This switch is ideal if you want to use your XBox 360 and PC with a single PC monitor. It's obviously been designed to work with your PC and an XBox 360 using the offical 360 VGA lead (sold seperately) but it uses completely standard VGA/phono/3.5mm stereo inputs and outputs so could be used with various devices.

You connect the 360 VGA cable to one input (VGA+phonos) and then your PC to the other input (VGA+3.5mm stereo). Beware that you'll need a 3.5mm male/male stereo lead to go between your PC and the switch for this and it's not included!

You then connect the output VGA lead to your monitor and plug your existing speakers into the 3.5mm stereo output.

You can then seamlessly switch audio and video between the 2 devices and it works perfectly.

The only problem, as others have mentioned, is that the included VGA cable to go between the switch and your monitor, is useless and produced quite bad ghosting on the screen in my case. Swap that out for a decent one and it's perfect. (hence only 4 stars).
