This is an absolutely brilliant deal for six good to great films.

From the original X-Men which kickstarted the past 15 years of superhero films, right through to First Class, which successfully rebooted the series, this collection entertains all the way through.

Yes, there are a couple of disappointments (X-Men 3: Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine) but even these are more than watchable and the good outweighs the bad.

If you want to spend a day or two watching some cracking films, you could do far worse.

This is an IMMENSELY great deal for a box set. I bought it for 12.5 GBP. I mean you are getting 6 movies for such a small price. And most of those 6 movies are good.

The box set contains all of the X-men movies except for the most recent i.e Days of the future past. A little bit about each movie you get:

X-men (2000): The first X-men movie directed by Bryan Singer back when good comic book movies were a very rare sight. Starring great actors like Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian Mckellen, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry, this really showed the world what superhero/comic book movies could be like if done properly. I loved it as a child and even after all those years, it holds up pretty well and I still love it.

X2 (2003): Bryan Singer returned to direct this and delivered yet again another great superhero movie. Great sequels are a rarity and this was better than the first one in almost every way. Better action, better character development, better plot etc. Re-watching it again reminded my how great it was.

X-Men: The last Stand (2006): Bryan Singer didn't direct this one and so it was obviously not as good as the first two movies. Bigger budget allowed for bigger set pieces and fights but the movie ruined the famous 'Pheonix' saga of the Xmen comics, along with many other things. Still, I still like it to some extent.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine(2009): The weakest X-men movie in my opinion. I don't know how they messed this up as wolverine is a really interesting character and Hugh Jackman does an excellent job portraying him but this movie was simply not good. The action was lazy and not that good, the CGI was horrible (Even the claws looked fake as s***), plot wasn't interesting nor were the secondary characters and everything felt rushed. It was good to see how Wolverine got his claws and the admantium skeleton though.

X-men: First Class(2011): After the disaster that was Origins, the future of the franchise didn't look bright. Along came Mathey Vaughn and delivered this beauty. This film focuses on the young Professor X and Magneto and how the X-men came into being. James McOvoy, Micheal Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence played Professor X, Magneto and Mystique respectively and they were great in their roles. I loved it.

The Wolverine(2013): Another film focusing on Wolverine, but this time it turned out to be a lot better than Origins. The film takes place after Last Stand and we see Logan haunted by the events in that movie and just living his life off the grid. The plot was kinda interesting, and the movie did a great job with Wolverine as a character. There was some good action in it and we get a nice after credit scene hinting at Days of the future past.

Bluray Box set review:
The picture quality of all the films are superb. Newer films obviously look better than the older ones but even X-men and X2 got nice transfers and look detailed and sharp for the most part. The Wolverine especially has a great transfer and looks best of all.
Audio quality is also great along all the films. Xmen, X2, First class and Origins boast DTS-HD 5.1 audio. The Last Stand has DTS-HD ES 6.1 audio and The Wolverine has DTS-HD 7.1 audio.

Apart from The Wolverine, each movie comes in a thin Bluray casing and only has one disc. The Wolverine comes in a normal thick Bluray case and is the three disc unleashed extended edition version. One disc is the 3D version, one disc is the normal theatrical version and one disc is the Unleashed extended edition. You can see the pic attached to this review to see the thin and thick case comparison:

The only thing I don't like about this box set is that like many of the other similar box set, the box it comes with is of a flimsy cardboard quality. I really wish they would use a more thicker cardboard for these box sets, especially the ones with more movies.

Overall, it is a great buy in my opinion for the fans or for those looking to get into the xmen franchise.

WOW! I have just finished watching this saga for the first time and it was amazing! Having just gotten properly into the Xmen franchise, these films were a must have and each one is very unique and gripping due to both story and characters. I highly recommend watching these if you are a fan of action films/superhero films or just love anything Marvel!

Let's face it the hugh Jackman as wolverine need I say more, even origins which is not great is watchable shearly for Hugh Jackman and liev Schreiber. Xmen 1 & 2 very good started the uprising in super hero movies in my opinion and done it so well. 3 not nearly as good as first 2 only thing with the franchise is the constant loopholes but it can be suppose days of futue past fixes that in a way. First class McAvoy and fassbender nail it and Nicholas hoult is a surprise stand out as beast in my opinion.

For $35 it's the best value BluRay set I've ever bought. There's a 3D Wolverine BluRay in the set also, which not all versions of this box set contain. I'd never seen any of the movies before buying this and have only watched the first two so far but I already feel like it was a good buy. The production values are first-rate - these are big budget films ahead of their time - when you look at the one that came out in 2002, it looks more like a 2009 release.

got for around £25, excellent movies all throughout. The 3d wolverine costs around £20. still worth it, on full price- 5 Blu rays with 1 3d Blu-ray.

Maybe I'm getting old but on the second time round of these men films, they are just too formulaic and lack any real substance or depth. Pure un-memorable action . Good value though if you buy it on discount and can purchase the last movie cheaply. At time of purchase it works out cheaper to buy this set and the future past separately.

Be careful when selecting this to buy, it comes attached to Region B (which is Europe) , HOWEVER, my computers Blue Ray drive could not play any of them even with the correct region setting on the drive. VLC player would not even play it. If you have a stand alone Blu Ray player then you will more then likely have no issues.

Great boxset with Wolverine 3d. Had never watched Xmen until around a year ago and watching them altogether especially on blu ray its easy to keep the flow on the story. Wolverine Origins, Xmen1 and First class I would say are the strongest. This is a really nice boxset an asset for any Marvel fan

An amazing collection of the first four xmen films, plus origins wolverine and the special edition of the wolverine. Extremely pleased with this purchase! One disc is in 3D, but it also comes in 2D so it can just be ignored if you don't have the ability to watch 3D films at home.
