5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent RPG! 30 Mar 2006
This is a brilliant game with many different characters you can play who have loads of powers. You get to decide how you build the characters and what equipment you give them. The enemies/bosses you fight are varied and it's also great fun destroying the environment around you!!
The story is good too, a playthrough takes about 30 hours and has a lot of good character interaction.
There is also a lot of replay value as you can play the game over with the same stats/equipment and all characters can also be levelled up to 99.
I've been playing this game for a few months and there's not many games that keep my interest for so long! If you are a fan of the X-men or RPG's then you must buy this game!

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvel-lous 12 May 2008
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Just finished Legends 1, and started Legends 2, and so far I'm very impressed with the feel of the game. It is a vast improvement on the first game, particularly the information screens in the "Team Management" section of the options, and I have invested in the game guide, which is very well presented, very informative and a real bonus because you know in advance what characters you may need to complete the section.
The other major benefit and advantage this game has above Legends 1 is that if you happen to miss a Comic Book, Concept Art or Danger Room disc along the way, you can revisit each section to find them, or complete the additional Objectives. I love it to bits. Levelling up is easy, though I have yet to level up a flying character quick enough to be able to fly in the Cerci Burrows and wound up building a bridge using Iceman...Rogue went down the chasm without flapping her arms once!
Graphically it is a little limited, other than the cut scenes (and the intro really rocks!) and not much of an improvement on its predecessor, BUT you still don't have to remember lots of button combinations.
The Scarlet Witch is a weird character to have on your team, as her Hex Power is very unpredictable, but what I like most is that the game guide gives you various team suggestions that will give you different bonuses and benefits. For example, The Bruiser Brigade, a team made up of Juggernaut, Colossus, Rogue and Wolverine really ramps up the energy!
Nothing negative to say at all. For a non-gamer, like me, it is easy to get to grips with, enjoyable to play, and the storyline is credible and engrossing. Buy It. Play It. Love It. Then Play It Again, Sam.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's an Even Bigger Optic Blast!!! 23 Sep 2014
I was a huge fan of X-Men Legends (XML) and so had lofty expectations for X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse (XML2). Well, I'm pleased to report that XML2, as the X-Men often do, blows the roof off!!!

The enjoyable action-packed, mutant-powered gameplay and simple controls from XML remain. So you can continue to pick up, play and launch some awesome attacks with relative ease. The gameplay graphics are pretty similar, but the cut-scenes have been massively improved. The voice talent is still strong with, for example, Sir Patrick Stewart still involved.

The levels have a similar structure to XML, but are set in more diverse and open locations. You also don't have to return to HQ after every level, as with XML, and can choose to proceed with the next mission. Skipping HQ gives the game a more arcade feel, but you do miss out on some of the brilliant mission briefings in which the X-Men and Brotherhood bring the banter. The HQ changes as well, so it's not just back to the same old X-Mansion.

The roster has significantly changed and allowes you to pick characters from beyond the X-Men, giving it a much more diverse feel. Colossus, Cyclops, Gambit, Iceman, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Storm and Wolverine remain. They are joined by Bishop, Juggernaught, Magneto, Scarlet Witch, Sunfire and Toad. As with XML, the XML2 plot also honours X-Men lore. For example, it takes a lot from the brilliant Age of Apocalypse series.

To summarise, XML2 takes the great work of XML and gives it an optic blast forward. 5/5 Stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game. 13 Dec 2012

A staple in any gamers collection especially if they are a fan of classic X-Men characters. Many more features than the first Legends game that actually enhances playability without taking away any of the charm. Plus you actually get to change the characters outfits to the original TV series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best replayability ever! 12 July 2007
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Not only was the game incredibly fun the first time round; what with the enormous selection of superpowers and superheroes/villains, excellent graphics and even a great story, but after you've completed it, which takes a satisfying amount of time to do: not too long, not too short, you feel you want to redo all the levels and go through each act backwards, with different characters and more and more baddies to fight.

If you don't find the replayability great enough, buy Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, play it for a while, replay this and really understand how many powers and characters this has!
