I have been meaning to read this for years. With the Film version coming out in 2014, I though now would be a good time to get a little incite into the story.
Unfortunately the title is very misleading and not what i expected at all. The actual story of "days of future past" is a very small and short portion at the end. What the comic boils down too is the story of Kitty Pride and her ride into the ranks of the X-men during the difficult period, just after Jean Greys death (ahem!). Kitty is the key to time travel, and hence, the most important character in the story. So the book has several storys leading up to the main event. But they ride there is long and the payoff short and unfulfilling.
Because the section comes and goes so quickly, you feel cheated that you needed to read so much/ unrelated dialog, to get there.
Whilst every story is linked with Kittys growth into the Xmen, some feel really pointless. There's also a wolverine story, where he goes off alone to fight the abominable snowman. The only reason i could find for it to be in there was because Kitty was in it for a few frames.
Whilst the comic was enjoyable, i did not feel that reading all those other section gave me any more, or less, incite into Kitty Pride, that was necessary for me to read the "days of future past" section.
I would have preferred what the title suggested, the story of Days of future past, and that alone. Whilst the book would be three quarters thinner. I would have enjoyed it more.
But then again..im not a huge comic book fan..so maybe i just don't get it?
This is just my review..dont hate me for it!
