Product Description

Manufacturer's Description
The X-Files: Resist or Serve is a true 3-D survival-horror game experience spanning three original episodes created by the executive producers of The X-Files television show. In addition it features the likenesses and authentic voice-overs from the majority of the cast, including David Duchovny (Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Scully). The fear begins when Mulder and Scully travel to the small Rocky Mountain town of Red Falls to investigate a string of unusual murders linked to ghost sightings, the undead and other paranormal phenomena. Mulder and Scully must pursue an inhuman killer to a secret research facility in the Siberian wasteland and finally into the depths of a buried alien spacecraft to unravel the mystery of the black oil and prevent the alien colonisation of the planet... for now.

Maintaining the authenticity of The X-Files, the game features familiar environments and characters faithfully recreated from The X-Files television show, including Skinner, the Cigarette-Smoking Man, the Lone Gunmen and more. The X-Files: Resist or Serve takes the The X-Files authenticity one step further by also including the score and dynamic music created by those responsible for the music behind the television show.

The game plays out over three The X-Files episodes (each complete with a teaser, title sequence, and "To be continued..." endings).

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant game, let down a bit by the graphics., 25 May 2004
After having a X-Files craze for the last month,I was pleased to know that there was a new game scheduled for release in less than a month.

In this game you get to play either Mulder or Scully in these 3 'lost episodes'.When you have chosen your character you get the episode teaser (the bit at the start of every episode). Then you get the title with the theme. This helps to make you feel you are actually playing them and are featuring in the episode. In this game Mulder gets the action and Scully has to do all the autopsies. When the first episode ended and the 'To be continued' appeared I was waiting for the credits to roll but it didn't and took me back to the main menu.Alot of the cast are featured in the game like Skinner,Krychek,C.S.M,Lone Gunmen and others which makes it feel more authentic.
The more you complete in the game, the more extras/special features you unlock. These are like DVD special features where you get to see Storyboards, trailers,Cast recording sessions and much more.
Graphics wise the game doesnt push the PS2 to its limits but still aren't all that bad since it doesnt stop you from playing.
Sounds and Music are lifted straight from the TV series and a CD single that was release a few years back.
After all this, this game is a worthwile experience for you die-hard X-Files fans. The best X-Files games out there with only a few flaws. If you're out for the better scares available then try the horrific Silent Hill series or Resident Evil but for this price you might aswell get this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars oh come all ye faithful, 15 Nov 2004

well, i agree with what everyone else has said...HOWEVER...as a massive fan of the X files I love this game. I know the graphics
aren't as good as a lot of other games, the game play is very
Silent Hill/Resident Evil-esque and the story is a bit sketchy...but its just great to be able to play with mulder and scully and hear their real voices, do autopsies as scully...do...well whatever it is mulder actually does...stand around and make wisecracks inevitably. I do prefer the first game which unfortunately is only available as a PS1 game but this game has its own merits...it reminds me of the first two seasons of the show, a bit low budget, a bit shoddy, lots of monsters and mutants...but that's what made it great and its the same with this game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected!, 12 Oct 2004
Most of the time you find yourself playing in the style of Resident Evil. As this game mainly focuses on flesh eating zombies. With a rare helping of much else. The start of the game is ok, then as you get further into say the next level you get a feeling of sameness right to the end of the game.

I can personally say I was not impressed with this game, having played the 1998 original version, that featured full motion interactive video -was available on pc and ps2.

The content of the game I found overal to not satisfy much of my 'search for the truth'. I would find myself in say Russia and then, suddenly for no reason would be in the field office. You find the game story board jumps from places quite alot without you realising and also the story concept, leaving you confused. I was anyway! I don't think the writer knew what path to take for this game.

The story concepts range from:
Alien avatars
Alien Oil Virus
Living Dead
