From the Back Cover

When the disease-ravaged body of Dr David Kennessy is found in the smouldering ruins of the DyMar genetic research laboratory, FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully fear that a deadly manmade plague has been unleashed.

They discover that Dr Kennessy had been experimenting with microscopic bio machines, hoping to cure every disease and heal any wound. In theory his research might provide a miracle cure, perhaps even the doorway to immortality. It was also the only way Dr Kennessy could save his leukaemia stricken son, but when a second corpse turns up, savagely mutilated from within, Mulder and Scully must ask whether the machines created to cure have learned to kill.

As relentless sinister forces close in, desperate for the secrets of immortality, Scully fights to save the life of an innocent boy, while Mulder comes face to face with a man whose slightest touch brings agonising death – and perhaps a resurrection more horrible still.

1.0 out of 5 stars Badly-written tosh... 13 April 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
First of all I would just like to say that I am a huge fan of the X-files television series. That's why I bought this book in the first place - I thought I might enjoy it as much as the series. The description on the back sounded interesting and at £2 I thought I couldn't really lose out.

After the first chapter I knew I was going to be disappointed. It is incredibly badly written. A very small vocabulary is used, leading to the repetition of words more times than is necessary. The characters of Mulder and Scully are one-dimensional and completely unlike the television series - Scully comes across as cold and Mulder comes across as flippant with his frequent use of one-liners. I didn't really care about the characters as they all dissolved into cliche. It was extremely linear and didn't require much thought.

I think it is safe to say that I will not be buying any more of the X-files novelisations by this author. Antibodies is going straight to the charity shop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impossible to put down 26 Feb 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
One thing I liked about this book is that it seems to have been written so that it could easily be made into an episode - plot wise and time wise. A lthough the book is a relatively quick read, the plot is intelligent, dark and gripping. The authors power to convey the situation to the reader is very strong and the characters are spot on.

5.0 out of 5 stars As far as it goes, it's perfect 6 Nov 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I read this book when I was about thirteen, so I don't know why I'm commenting on it now, three years later, but here goes. Anderson was my favourite of all people to ever write X-Files spin-off novels, and this is my favourite of all. It's an entertaining little two-day read, and actually quite exciting when you get into it. It's a shame that the jacket blurb tells you half the plot--my advice is to just get on in there, start reading the book and nothing else. You won't be disappointed.

The best X-Files novel to date! This book goes one step beyond `Ruins` which was the best novel I read last year (1997) and is very well written again by Anderson. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!
This book appeals to all of the great aspects of the X-Files genre. It's set mainly in a rustic cabin and a burnt-out laboratory; settings just made for the X-Files. Read more
