1.0 out of 5 stars Good fun, terrible quality 31 Dec 2010
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Dual Mic Pack
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Bought this recently for my girlfriend for christmas as she isn't a serious gamer like myself and has followed the x factor quite religiously for some years now, in buying it I knew it wouldn't be a great game, but karaoke is karaoke right? How bad could it be?
Well... 28 songs is the limit, a very random selection from various artists, the majority of which are covers, as the game developer's haven't been licensed to use most of the original tracks.
The karaoke system is quite fun, but by no means revolutionary, it is a bog standard karaoke system that grades you for singing in the right pitch, but I found just by humming it was so much easier and I could get perfect on nearly every bar of a song which just felt wrong, there are also no penalties for singing when you shouldn't be which seems too easy, add to this the dreadful sound quality of the tracks and the karaoke system is only really good for a laugh, nothing more.
What is even more laughable however, is the games terrible graphics. They are jagged, blurry and without any attention to detail. Character customisation is nil, you can choose from around 10 characters to play as, and you can't even name them yourself; however this doesn't even really matter as during gameplay the characters lips don't appear to even move during the song, they just stand there doing a pathetic little dance.
Further licensing issues with the judges and even the shows presenter are apparent, in that all four judges are loosely (and I mean VERY loosely) based around the four real life judges, the game has even seated them in a completely different order to how they sit in the show to avoid too much resemblance!

4.0 out of 5 stars X Factor on the WII - Excellent 30 Nov 2010
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Dual Mic Pack
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Really good fun game especially in a group, only comment would be that you cant go through all of the rounds against each other its only 1 contestant to go through i.e. auditions, judges houses etc to try and win. There are other options to play against your friends in competition mode and party mode but would have been good to be able to go the whole way through! Other than that brilliant but actually quite difficult on some songs!

Really disappointed with this. Sound is terrible. Obviously a money making idea from X-Factor without any real thought going into it.

Very missleading advertising for this game. X Factor judges do not feature in it at all. Restricted choice of songs, that a hum along to will do, microphone is quiet. Read more
