3.0 out of 5 stars author could do with revamping the theme 15 Mar 2012
By Sian Louise VINE VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have been reading books from this author for the last couple of years and the last couple have been really disappointing but I keep perservering with the latest releases in hopes they will be as good as the older ones for example Lawless.

This wasn't up to par with the older ones but I didn't dislike it as much as I have done some of her others.

I actually quite liked all of the characters in this which doesn't happen very often.
My only real issue with the male lead Mal was that he was quite stuck on how "ugly" he was. I am not sure if I have ever come across this before with the male lead in a book but I found it annoying.
Also the fact that he supposedly never had sex with the horrible female but let her lead him around by the *ahem* didn't make a lot of sense.
I liked Morie though, strong, tough female character. Loved her except for the bit where she blurts out "i want your baby" when they are about to "do it" lol For some reason the last couple of Diana Palmer books the females are obsessed with having the guys' babies before they have even got to know them properly and before they have even done the deed to make them.

Also the theme about sex before marriage and religion seems to be getting stronger with each book.
It would be great if Diana Palmer mixed it up a bit and went for a more experienced female as I am finding this formula to be a little old and repetative now.

Overall I didn't hate this book but would probably only give it a 2.5 star rating altogether. I am unsure if I will continue reading this authors work now and am contemplating just re-reading her older ones which I loved. If you are wanting to try this author I definately recommend her older books over her latest releases

5.0 out of 5 stars Wyoming Tough 18 April 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
This has the usual D.P. format of girl meets manthen an upset then everything OK in the end but the descriptions make it a readable, enjoyable romance. Rich girl leaves family to become a ranch hand, without letting on who she is, bossman doesn't realise his current girl is a conartist/thief(etc), there are hints of the Jacobsville characters (from previous books) towards the end of the story. I got the book mid March, intending to save it for a holiday - no chance! I'm now re-reading it (April 18th) and still can't put it down!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute story 26 Jun 2014
By Jo-Anne
Format:Kindle Edition
Morie is a very rich heiress who is tired of her father's constant protection and treating her like she would break. He keeps pushing her to marry a man who he considers to be the 'right' man so it turns out that anyone she dates is really just interested in her money - not her. Even though Morie's dad owns a huge ranch, he will not let her do anything on the ranch except ride the horses so she leaves and gets a job as a ranch hand on the Kirk ranch to prove that she can succeed without her father's influence. She dresses and acts like a ranch hand so nobody knows who she really is.

She does pretty well at the job until her boss' girlfriend, Gelly, feels threatened by her and makes her life miserable, trying to get her fired. Gelly tries to intimidate Morie but she doesn't take it and talks back to Gelly. Gelly goes to Mallory to tell him what happened but changed the facts to make it look like Morie was to blame for the whole incident, trying to get her fired. Morie does finally get fired when a family heirloom was found planted in her bag. In the meantime, Morie has fallen in love with Mallory but changes her opinion of him when he fires her without letting her defend herself.

This story is cute and different with a rich girl pretending to be poor and working for her living (which she had never done before). I could really relate to the characters and liked them. Morie is a strong, fun character. Mallory and his brothers all have problems, but Mallory has more than the other two. He thinks that because he is not handsome, he doesn’t have much to offer, and that women are only interested in him for his money.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a good read at all 24 Jan 2014
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
not a lot of believable things happening in this book: characters very shallow and fickle, plot contrived, description of setting patchy, and ending ridiculous for 21st (and 20th) century. Sorry but this was a waste of time...
