This is the second book in a trilogy about 3 brothers. The story is not slow in starting and has a lot of twists and turns in it along with red herrrings!

The Kirk boys are all strong alpha males which leads to them butting heads with the strong minded leading ladies! the path to love is rocky with some topics mentioned that may cause readers to go "OMG" but believe me they are there to enhance to story not detract from it.

Cane Kirk is not very likeable at the start but as the story goes on you can see that he is fighting his demons and trying to become a better man, bodie can see that he is the man for her from the start, he just needs to sort out a few rough edges first.

There is a "roll on the floor laughing" moment that involes a rooster but i wont spoil it for you. This is Diana Palmer at her best with strong characters and emotives subjects rolled up in romance. Watch out for "the Rancher" coming out later this year as i have a feeling that the Kirks may well appear in that story also as it involves cort Brandt, who is the brother to the eldest Kirk's wife. this is definetely a keeper. I got the audio book version as i am slightly dylexic and i have to say that Mr Phil "eargasmic" Gigante once again gave the story life with all the emotive voices he does. No one can bring a love scene into reality better than him!!!

Coming fresh to this author I don't bring memories of her many previous books, and I found it acceptable if not wonderful. This is a modern look at life in Wyoming drawing on the internet and the economy. Belinda Mays is working her way through college and living with her grandfather, fending off the predatory attentions of her stepfather who has been asking her to pose on a website since her mother died. He is somewhat caricatured and I had to ask why such a nice girl didn't have any close friends.

Cane Kirk, a war veteran who lives on a neighbouring ranch, handles the pedigree cattle well but is unable to get past the loss of his arm. To counter his insecurity he drinks and smashes up the local bar, and Belinda, his friend, is called to help calm him down. I didn't see that as too realistic nor was I keen on the way he brags to a much younger girl about his conquests. Belinda reluctantly turns to Cane for a loan when her grandfather is diagnosed with heart trouble and needs expensive medication, but she is too proud to explain all her difficulties and Cane jumps to the conclusion that she only wants him for his money. Rejected, and seemingly having no problem pouring out her troubles to a ranch hand, Belinda sees no option but to pawn heirloom jewellery to pay the rent, and accedes to her seedy stepfather's demands. For a college girl she knows far too little about the net.

WYOMING FIERCE is an angry book, where characters quail at the price of even generic drugs and ask how they are supposed to live in an economy that cares nothing for ordinary people and provides no jobs. Balancing that is the good care given to a car crash victim in hospital, and the general condemnation of a person who drinks and drives.

I can't wait for the next book in the series! I really enjoyed the story -usual twists & turns but all ends happily in the end.

Oh Dear! Yet another pale imitation of the wonderful Diana Palmer early novels we all so loved. All the ususal ingredients. older man, very young girl... but thankfully this time at least no stupid mercenary / drug dealer plots. However, the story is made up of several pieces of her former novels cobbled together (which has become the norm these days) but in this case the delicious sexual tension that Miss Palmer is famous for, and which makes me at least put up with her sometimes not very nice heros and insipid heroines... is totally missing. The "he wants her but he can't have her, but... oh God he wants her" tension that she used to be able to depict so masterfully just isn't there. The hero decides without very much angst at all that he is going to have the heroine... despite his age and missing arm... and really I thought that the romance was totally boring.
The danger that she faces from the usual "bad" man, bearing in mind that it is almost a total copy of the plot from several of her previous novels, could have been tolerable despite its familiarity if it had triggered a romantic and sexually charged response from the hero. But as I've mentioned, I felt this was totally lacking which made the whole read once again a huge disappointment. So I promise myself that I won't buy any more of her new books because the last few... especially "Courageous"... have been so bad that its hard to believe that she's the same writer who gave us the wonderful "Snow Kisses" and "Man of Ice" etc. But my love for her early novels always make me hope that her latest book will see her retun to her old form, so I give in and purchase... but enough is enough! I now know that this is just foolish optimism.
