3.0 out of 5 stars WWE SummerSlam 2004 28 Dec 2004
Whilst this will go down as not one of those events that made the WWE what it is, many will remember this as the event in which Randy Orton became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion.
SummerSlam took place in the Air Canada Center on August 15th with a crowd of 17,460.
Now a look at the matches
Heat match: Rob Van Dam pinned Rene Dupree. Give this match ***
The Dudleyz and Spike defeated Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman and Paul London. This match showed us the true nature of Spike Dudley as a heel and it came off in true heel style with Spike getting the pin. Not the best of matches...**
Kane defeated Matt Hardy in a 'Till Death Do Us Part' match. The winner would marry Lita and rumour had it Matt Hardy would be out for a few months with knee surgery. This one was pretty short and sure enough Kane won and Hardy hasn't been seen since the Wedding....**
John Cena pinned Booker T in the Best of Five Series Match...not much I can remember apart from it being short...**
Edge defeated Batista and Y2J to retain the IC Title...now this match was funny because Edge was booed and jeered in his home town! And he wasn't even playing heel...an indication of things to come...***
Kurt Angle defeated Eddie Guerrero...Kurt got some revenge on Eddie's win at WrestleMania XX with a win over Eddie. This was a good match....***
Triple H pinned Eugene....this was about revenge for Eugene but lost when the Game defeated him with a pedigree. This was a longer match but didn't showcase the Game in his true quality...**
Diva Dodgeball....let's not go there....team 'candidates' won
JBL defeated Undertaker to retain the WWE Title....

4.0 out of 5 stars Summerslam 2004- Let The Games Begin 7 April 2006
Summerslam is usually one of the most solid PPVs of the year, due to the fact that its an interpromotional event, and this year was no dissapointment.
Six man tag match- Mysterio, Kidman, London vs The Dudley Boys w/Spike
A decent match but seems stupid if you look at where Mysterio is now and where he was then. 6/10
Triple Threat for Intercontinental Title-
Edge vs Batista vs Jericho
A solid match even though its a bit short. Made good by the fact that Edge is booed by his hometown!7/10
Best-of-Five for the US Title- Match 1-
John Cena vs Booker T
Again too short, with matches like these its easy to see why people think that Cena should still only be playing mid-card matches.6/10
Till Death Do Us Part Match-
Matt Hardy vs Kane
The climax to the stupidest storyline ever. Basically a normal match except, wait for it, Lita marries the winner! Terrible, they could've at least put it in a cage.4/10
HHH vs Eugene-
A good match even though the crowd boo Eugene whose meant to be the face. The ending was a bit predictable but otherwise it was a good showcase for HHH to show he had no conscience and a nice break from him relentlessly chasing the title.7.5/10
Guerrero vs Angle-
Second best match of the night. Its always nice to see some good chain-wrestling. Guerrero shows that he can be just as technical in the ring as Angle.9/10
WWE Title Singles Match-
A highly average bout for the WWE title. Taker was always just going to be a time waster for JBL until Mania. The ending is not as good as everybody says it is as I can't see why being put through the PAPER roof of a lomousine would hurt so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent ppv 24 Jan 2005
By A Customer
1) Rey Mysterio, Paul London and Billy Kidman vs Spike Dudley, Bubba Dudley and D-Von Dudley - This was a very solid opening match which helps in putting spike over as a strong heel. Good action here - 7/10
2) Matt Hardy vs Kane - Not all that good but at least Kane actually got a win on ppv - 6/10
3) Booker T vs John Cena - I have to say this is a decent match, not a good match, but decent - 7/10
4) Edge vs Batista vs Chris Jericho - I liked this match and the crowd in bizaro world certainly makes this one entertaining - 7.5/10
5) Eddie Guerrero vs Kurt Angle - I though this match was excellent, but what else do you expect from these two - 9/10
6) Triple H vs Eugene - Another excellent match with Eugene showing he can hang with the game, a very good match I felt - 8.5/10
7) JBL vs The Undertaker - This is a good match with both men working very hard despite the ignorant crowd doing a mexican wave. Anyways, like I said, this is a good match with a good spot once the match is over - 8/10
8) Diva Dodgeball - The problem was is that it wasn't filmed live which annoyed the crowd. I would have much rather have seen a women's match - 5/10
9) Chris Benoit vs Randy Orton - A very good match with Orton once again proving that he can hang with the big boys. Benoit is awesome like always. I liked the ending to this match, as it really caught me by surprise when it happened - 9.5/10.
All in all I would give Summerslam 8.5/10. The opening 4 matches are nothing special but the last four singles matches make up for it.
