This was a decent show from WWE that had an unfortunately horrible main event. As a whole, the wrestling on this show was very solid. Nothing blow away or particularly memorable, but still pretty good. The main event absolutely killed this show, and really left me with a poor taste in my mouth. Matches are rated out of 5 stars (*****).
1. U.S. Title Submissions Count Anywhere Triple Threat Match
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. John Morrison vs. the Miz
Aside from the absolutely absurd stipulation, and the fact that Morrison did not need to be added to this match at all, this was a very good opener. They brawled all over the place, and they used some nice submission moves. Crowd was very into this match as well. At one point, morrison jumped off the stage onto Bryan and Miz, which was insane. Finish came after Alex Riley interfered and took out Morrison, and then Bryan put Miz and the Lebell lock and made him submit. In my opinion, this was the best match of the night. ***1/4
2. WWE Championship Hell in a Cell Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. Sheamus
Very odd placement for this match. This was a good match as well, the only problem I had was that it felt like a normal pro wrestling match that just happened to be taking place inside a cell. That's WWE PG for ya. Psychology was good as Orton worked over Sheamus' arm. They based a lot of this match around the ring steps, and the finish came after Orton hit an RKO onto Sheamus onto the steps for the win. Good match, but it felt like it went a bit too long and didn't really need to be a Hell in a Cell match. ***
Alberto Del Rio then came out and tlaked about how great he was. Edge interrupted him, and continued his gimmick of trying to put an end to all things stupid. It's too bad he couldn't put an end to this segment. Jack Swagger then came out and beat up Edge because Edge had beat up his mascot on Smackdown, and the Raw G.M. computer made an impromtu match between the two
3. Edge vs. Jack Swagger
I enjoyed the ring work in this match, but the crowd was COMPLETELY dead. I mean, no noise at all, for anything. Swagger controlled most of the match, and then Edge pretty much hit a spear out of nowhere for the pin. Like I said there was some good stuff here and the match was solid but the crowd killed it. **1/2
4. Wade Barrett vs. John Cena (If Cena wins, Nexus disbands, if Cena loses, he joins Nexus)
Surprisingly good match. Nexus came out early on and stood at ringside, but eventually a bunch of WWE guys ran out and beat them up and made them leave. They had a very back and forth match, and both guys used some impressive moves that I've never seen before. Cena even hit a dropkick and a gutwrench suplex. Is it sad that this is a big deal? Anyway, there were a lot of near falls at the end, and both guys kicked out of each other's finishers. Barrett won after a "fan" jumped into the ring, which distracted the ref and Cena long enough for another "fan" to hit Cena with a pipe, and Barrett got the pin. Crowd was pretty shocked, hopefully this will make for some interesting TV and a possible Cena heel turn. ***
5. WWE Unified Divas' Championship Match
Michelle McCool (c) vs. Natayla
As far as WWE women's matches go, this was better than most. The finish was freaking awful, however, when Layla got McCool dq'd by throwing her shoe in the ring as McCool was about to tap to the sharpshooter. *3/4
6. World Heavyweight Championship Hell in a Cell Match
Kane (c) vs. Undertaker
This was an absolutely shockingly poor main event. Taker looked like he could barely move, and Kane was...well, Kane was Kane. Match went on FOREVER, as Kane worked Undertaker over with HOLDS. Kane was bleeding hard way from the top of his head. Thank god they didn't come out and fix him up. Match lasted almost 30 minutes, most of it amidst a horrifying amount of silence. The only time the crowd made any noise whatsoever was when the two were slugging each other, and they did the BOO YAY chants. It more came off like the crowd was just trying to entertain themselves. Kane took out a ref, and several refs had to come in and help him out. Instead of using this as an excuse to leave the Cell and do something interesting, Paul Bearer just came inside, and the other refs left and closed the door. Kane stalked Bearer around the ring, which looked awful because Bearer could barely move and Kane just had to slowly follow behind him. Taker hit a chokeslam on Kane, and then he posed and his blue entrance light filled the arena accompanied by lightning noises. I am not making this up. Paul Bearer then distracted Taker by opening the urn and shining its light in Takers eyes. Well, Undertaker did bury him in cement, I guess its only fair. He then handed the urn to Kane, who hit Undertaker, and then hit a chokeslam for the win. The crowd was not happy with any of this, and the whole thing just looked ungodly bad. Match was unspeakably terrible. 1/2*
This was not an awful show, but it was just another very average WWE show in a streak of seemingly endless average shows. Main event was atrocious, but the rest of the show was solid enough that this gets a 3 star rating. I do not recommend purchasing this. WWE needs to start making some pretty radical changes.
