2.0 out of 5 stars a definate wrong turn in this franchise!!! 21 Sep 2012
Format:DVD
Wrong turn 4 is a horror prequel that we didn't really need,it adds nothing at all to the franchise and while i appreciate the director of the movie was trying to take the wrong turn movies in another direction,i feel that it just doesn't work.
Firstly wrong turn movies are usually set in the backwoods of west virginia and for the first 3 movies,i felt that this setting really worked but,in this movie the setting is an insane asylum in the middle of winter and we see lots of snow and blizzards and it jist feels wrong and not what the wrong turn films are about.
Secondly, the gore in this movie is so over the top that it is not believable and it looks so fake and you can very much tell that it is all cgi. Also the acting is terrible and you find yourself actually wanting all the characters to die. But,i think the worst thing about this film is the terrible make up effects of the three cannibals, they look so cheap and fake,i have seen better halloween mask on sale at the pound shop.
All in all it's not the worst film i have ever seen, however it just doesn't feel like a wrong turn movie and i hope that wrong turn 5 will return to the original backwoods setting of west virginia and not try again to take the movies in a new direction,as i don't think that it works and it's not what the fans want!

5.0 out of 5 stars "..GREAT GORY SLASHER PREQUEL.." 10 Jun 2012
Format:DVD
This is a prequel to the last three wrong turn movies, if like me youre a massive fan of these movies then you wont be disappointed, its your similar set up a bunch of teens end up taking a wrong turn in the middle of no where after getting lost in the snow and find an abandoned psychiatric hospital home to the freaks we all know and love saw tooth, one eye and 3 finger!! Then the bloody massacre begins, theres lashings of blood and gore as usual to keep horror fans happy, lots of imaginative and gross painful deaths, great fun slasher movie, check it out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dumb but not much fun 10 April 2012
By Will
Format:DVD
I think it is safe to say the first Wrong Turn is easily the best and this installment doesn't change that..This one starts with a flashback of a mental asylum and all its inbred inmates. They escape and kill everyone at which point we are then forwarded to the present day. A group of horny 20 somethings go on a skiing trip to a cabin somewhere during a heavy snowfall but they take a wrong turn (surprise) and end up at the aformentioned mental institute...

To be honest there are some ok deaths here (the highlight being a somewhat hard to watch dinner scene involving a somehow conscious victim) but thats about the only thing going for it other than the often cheesy dialogue. The acting is for the most part pretty bad and very contrived and the actions of the group are often beyond stupid. e.g. at one point they manage to capture the inbred crew and, despite having seen their friends brutally tortured and killed by these freaks, one of the girls (who saw her fiance butchered to death no less) persuades the others to let them live! Unreal. They also of course do the usual "lets split up and get killed" thing that you would expect and the final scene is petty ridiculous but you might find it funny.

I wouldn't call it completely awful for what it is. It's a very predictable slasher film, far from the best, but it might be worth a rental if you enjoyed the previous films. You might get some enjoyment from it. Not much though, there is only one standout scene and it isn't half as much fun as the original.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok, same old thing 31 Mar 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This is the worst out of the series, which if you've watched them all is saying something! But as wrong turn goes its not too bad. Easy to watch and have a laugh. Not for the serious horror watcher

4.0 out of 5 stars Good film for the 90's (released 2011!) 17 Feb 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Good storyline, I liked it. For an older film, the effects were quite good and I would want to buy the following up films.

(Just looked up and saw it was from 2011!) Some might like it, but compared to the likes of The Hunger Games, the effects may not be quite as good! ;)

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh, this was a prequel - I didn't know 23 Jan 2014
Format:DVD
No, seriously, I only found out I'd watched a prequel when I looked it up on the internet after sitting through the film. So, that would explain why it's an `origin' story of those three inbred hillbillies. Basically, they escaped from a secure institution and went on to kill people. That's the backstory. Did they really need to stretch it into an hour and a half?

A group of teenagers - the girls all enormously attractive, wearing tight-fitting tops - and the boys all sporting mock-Justin Bieber haircuts - all go on a skiing trip, but end up in a old asylum (does it really matter why?). Then, after spending the night loudly partying and fondling each other, they discover the hillbillies are in there. You can probably guess what happens next.

Yes, there's some decent gore, but it's extreme gore in place of a story or characters. Seriously, this is one of those films where you're on the baddies' side. The teens are so obnoxious you'll be cheering when they're offed one by one - possibly payback for their lousy acting?

The original `Wrong Turn' movie was a nice little horror gem. However, as we sit here with number 4, it's really just wringing as much money as you can out of a name. This felt like it could have been called anything - it's the ultimate generic horror/slasher film. No, it's not terrible, but I sat through it with a sense that I couldn't care about anything in it because I'd seen it all before...better.
