#1 Best Seller in True Crime in USA, Australia, India, Spain and #3 in UK! Also top 50 across Amazon in Drama and Biography!

The following story is based on true events about my trip to Marbella, Spain, where having lost everything, I leave memories of a London police cell behind me and head for Spain with its promise of adventure and fun. Little do I know that I'm about to be thrust into the most terrifying time of my life.

WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME is a gripping true-life story of an unimaginable nightmare and how my ticket to a new life turns out to be a one way ticket to hell.

Over 380 reviews across Amazon with 232 x 5*, 62 x 4* and the odd 1*'s!

5* Picked up & read in couple of days - found it impossible to put down.

5* Truly brilliant story that must have been difficult to write.

5* Congrats to the author for having the guts to share it with us.

5* Story reminds me of novels by Tom Wolfe in which we learn how easy it is to fall through the thin crust of civilization.

5* Had to force myself to put it down to go to bed!

5* Drawn in from the first page & from then on I felt I was with him every step of the way.

5* Read many 'Award Winning' books which are boring, too descriptive, too long, but this was great.

5* He tells you his story which I promise you is a fantastic read.

5* Brilliant book which had me on tender hooks!

5* It should be a movie!

5* Most Amazing True Story...Wow!

More About the Author

Welcome to my page!

Wrong Place Wrong Time is my first book and was encouraged by my family and friend/editor to put pen to paper/fingers to laptop and write.

It is based on events that happened in the early 90's when I visited Marbella, Spain where my dream holiday turned into the biggest nightmare of my life.

I am delighted to share that the book had become a #1 Bestseller in TRUE CRIME on Amazon in US, along with #2 in True Accounts in Japan, #1 in Factual in Spain and top #10 in UK. I am also amazed at the number of reviews, over 300 with over 190 x 5* so far! Thank you readers.

My second book is called MY WAY, its about how I have marketed Wrong Place Wrong Time, firstly because I was told I should and secondly to give new authors, like myself some tips.

My Way has received over 60 x 4/5* reviews from self-publishing authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating read :) 9 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Oh my! What a fabulous book. I absolutely loved this story and especially as it is based on the author's real life experience. I was captivated and fully engaged from page 1. I know it's become a rather cliche thing to say in reviews but I genuinely could not put the book down and it was read in just over 4 hours. What struck me after I'd read it was how the author must always be looking over his shoulder and how must it feel to be a 'wanted' man? I consider the author to be so very brave to publish this novel. I understand why he felt compelled to do so and I'm full of admiration for him. It is written very well and is a definite page turner. If you love real life novels, this should be on your list of 'must reads'!

What a nightmare fo David, an apt title. Well done for sharing this brilliant true story. It goes to show that anything, anywhere can happen to anyone and although much of it was because David had made the wrong choices he has earned his second chance at making the most of his life. It could have all gone badly wrong had he he stayed in Marbella. One place I will not be visiting! Easy reading, unable to put this book down until the end in just 3x days.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cautionary Tale 15 July 2014
Wrong Place Wrong Time
By David P Perlmutter
Reviewed by Alastair Rosie

Let me begin by stating that I'm not big on True Crime stories, I do have a few books by former cops but it's not a genre that grabs me and I don't know why, it's just the way I am.
Nevertheless this book got my attention because of the way it's written, the language is fairly simple and the descriptions aren't dripping with adjectives but the story pulls you in pretty quickly. It's a true story about a young unemployed Brit who finds himself on the wrong side of the law in Spain. Most of us associate the Costa del Sol with beaches, bars and bikini-clad girls. The worst thing that can happen is a case of sunburn or a trip to the hospital after stepping on broken glass. Perlmutter however winds up accused of arson and manslaughter when a hotel burns down. Thrown into prison he is then brought before a judge without any attempt to question him and is faced with a dire choice when fate intervenes and he is granted bail, to stay and fight his case or run. Alone and isolated in a foreign country the walls start closing in and I'll leave it for you to read the book yourself.
As books go it's actually very well written and he does confess he's not a writer per se but there's a refreshingly simple tone to the book that makes it a very easy read. It's also what I call a cautionary tale of what can happen if you're not careful. Many visitors from Britain, North America and Australia in particular make rather naive assumptions about foreign countries when they get into trouble. They assume that the same Westminster/American justice system exists there as well. One only has to look at the case of Amanda Knox to realise that serious miscarriages of justice do occur.

1.0 out of 5 stars It should be titled "Walter Mitty rides again" 24 Mar. 2013
By KeithT
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If this book has anything more than a fleeting connection with reality I will be amazed. He certainly is quick to blame everybody but himself for the situations he finds himself in. From the start, when done for driving under the influence of drink and drugs, he tries to excuse himself by claiming it was a momentary error. Unfortunately these moments seem to occupy most of his life.
Then Mr Superhero risks life and limb climbing 30 feet up the drainpipe of a burning building to rescue a damsel in distress. This after consuming beer and champagne all night at a party! Not content with one piece of heroism he then runs into said burning building, avoiding police and other emergency services, to try to rescue anybody else he can find. What he accidentally finds and then pockets are cash and credit cards. Once out of the building he has enough about him to hide the cash "because it's heavy" but 'forgets' to do the same with the credit cards.
If I seem to be giving too much of the story line away I make no apology as, if I can stop just one person wasting their money on this drivel I will be happy.

1.0 out of 5 stars A story of ego and pride 11 April 2013
By skem
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this thinking from the reviews it would be a gripping true tale of one mans struggle. But in reality if you enjoy reading about selfishness, ego and pride then this is the book for you. I felt angry reading it as the writer wanted the reader to feel sorry for him, i did not. His actions were selfish, his behaviour stupid and his actions ridiculous. I find it hard to believe that he was on a mission to be a hero, it would seem that he was really there to pocket money and credit cards from those who were caught in in a tragedy by chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, Scary & A Good Read 16 Jun. 2012
By William
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book a few days ago and later that night (about 11pm) went up to bed to have a read - I ended up staying awake until 2.30am to finish it!

I am just a bit older than the Author was when the events took place and I can relate to a lot of what writes about, being a bit naive and carefree when young. Fortunately for me (unfortunately for David) the few scrapes I had in my early 20s with the police were here in the UK not Spain!!!

Anyone who enjoys reading books involving True Crime, the Police,Spain, Being young and a bit adventurous should definitely give this a read.

5/5 from me and hopefully David Perlmutter decides to write further books.
