Product Description

At the beginning of this compelling novel, Rick Corinth—driven careerist, brilliant prosecutor, and the heir apparent to the district attorney’s job in Manhattan—is assigned a case involving a series of increasingly sadistic rapes. When the victims, all prominent women at the acme of their careers, begin identifying Corinth as their assailant, he takes flight.

No one who knows him well believes him capable of committing such shocking crimes, including his ex-wife. His children, made to suffer at school, are hurt and confused. And yet the evidence against him keeps mounting. When his ex-wife is herself sexually attacked, she in turn pegs Corinth as the culprit.

Attorney-turned-novelist Alan Hruska’s Wrong Man Running is the story of Corinth’s frantic search to find the man he thinks framed him and the psychological challenges of confronting the possibility that he might be liable for the heinous rapes several women have claimed he committed. Sharp and haunting, Hruska masterfully ratchets up the suspense in this deftly written novel, penning a taut legal thriller in the vein of Scott Turow and John Grisham.

This is a story with a very fascinating premise and a good opening chapter. Well observed characters and a smooth flow of the story come with good dialogue and prose. Descriptions are vivid as well. Dialogue and narrative are effective used in this compact but deep story, a style that reminds me of the thriller Flash of the Sun.Overall, this is a story that strikes a chord with readers of this genre.

Surprisingly Good 19 Dec 2011
By Marc
Format:Kindle Edition
Bought this as it was goimg cheap on the deal of the day and found it to be surprisingly good. I would agree that in some parts, the author seemed to suspend belief, though on the whole it was well written, and for once in a book I had no idea how it would end. I actually found myself browsing Amazon for more books by this author, hence the review.

Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Rape is a very serious crime affecting many women (and men) every day. This book, although very clever in its concept, (of a brilliant prosecutor now on the run from accusations of rape that he was investigating) poses more than the mere question of "did he commit these sadistic rapes?".

Rick Cornish, up and comming DA suffers from blackouts and without a doubt likes women! The "victims" do not come over as convincing - they are all intelligent, stunning women, drawn from his own circle - but the after effcts of rape are traumatic, no matter what level of intelligence or background. This is lacking in the book and frankly I was disenchanted. The writing was fluent, the basic concept good but the victims characters flawed. Sorry Alan, but you must see this from a woman's prespective. This is a touchy subject and is not dealt with in an empathetic way. Rick is far more concerned with his own feelings than the victims. Too many conincidences also spoiled the reality. Disappointing. Wrong Man Running

Chapter out of order
I could not understand how the story jumped the way it did till I noticed that chapter 45 had been replaced by chapter 55. The same chapter 55 appeared again in its right place. Read more

Frank Seaton was about to be named chief judge of the State of New York. His proposition to me was that I serve several months as chief assistant DA, then take over his remaining term as DA on an acting basis. Then run for the office. "e;
