Another enjoyable, fun, fantastic read by Sarah Ball! I adored Nine Months and Marry Me, so I've been very anxious to read her latest effort, Written in the Stars, and just as I had expected it was yet again another un-put-down-able, whimsical, must read!
This is the story of Gemma and Adam, a seemingly idlylic couple who are just starting out on the next phase of their relationship, (the 'love, honor, and cherish for now and forever phase' of the relationship). Everything seems to be going smoothly, Adam asks Gemma to marry him (in a truly unique setting I might add), the ring is bought and tentative wedding plans are made. Everything seems to be going well, or are they?
Doubts soon bubble to the surface as Gemma begins to wonder if she is making the right decision and soon enough, 'signs' seem to be everywhere pointing out that perhaps her fears are not as unfounded as she had thought. Then the clincher, a time capsule buried away long ago in the confines of her closet are discovered with some startling predictions that were made in the past about the future further Gemma's jitters about her relationship with Adam. But Gemma is not the only one affected by these predictions. Gemmas's friends Fay and Nikki have also recieved predictions of their own and soon everyone is second guessing every aspect of their lives since the predictions were made.
Ball does a great job of putting a contemporary spin on the 'cold feet' theme by bringing in all sorts off new elements that keep the book interesting and moving along nicely. With humorous bits, and well-rounded, REAL characters, along with plenty of self-deprecating humor along the way, Written in the Stars is a breezy wonderful story that leaves you believing in the power of love! I loved this book! It was truly an enjoyable read! Another winner for Sarah Ball!
