Product Description

Review

What is special about the text is that it is more than just 'how to write reports'; it gives that extra really powerful information that can and often does make a difference... The book is comprehensive in its detail and contents, covering type style, fonts, writing style and even advice on binding and illustrations. --Training Journal

By far the most informative text covering report writing that I have seen. --Training Journal

From the Author

The prestigious 'Training Journal' has described this book as 'the classic guide to report writing', awarding it a maximum 25 stars (5 each for Innovation, Content, Clarity, Overall Recommendation and Value for Money). Now in its 9th edition, I believe that the book's key strength is that it has always kept up with the times - with a new updated and revised edition coming out every two or three years. What you write is important, but how you write it and how it looks on the page are crucial in creating high-impact reports that consistently stand out from those of your fellow students, or from those of your professional colleagues or business competitors. In today's competitive communication age, this is an achievement not to be undervalued. John Bowden.

This handbook offers all that you need to know to help produce professional documents. In the competitive job and education market being able to present research accessibly and clearly is especially important. This book provides the tools with which to achieve this.

It is clearly written and covers all the necessary bases. In particular I found the new addition of a Harvard referencing section useful as it took into account the new sources of research now available and offered a concise means of citing these areas.

Foremost a reference tool, this work is well presented and above all easy to understand: key requirements in a book that you want to 'dip into'for advice.

I would recommend this book for anyone looking to polish their document creation or any student looking to undertake university courses.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Resource 5 July 2011

Knowing that success at university or in the world of work rests so heavily on effective written communication can be intimidating. How many of us, after all, specialise in report writing? Fortunately John Bowden does!

If you need to produce academic or business reports that present information concisely, convincingly and in an appropriately structured format, then this is the book for you. I cannot recommend it too highly. Invest in a copy!
