Having looked around for a good book on the subject I came across mostly older efforts which appeared outdated. Sara Maitland's introduction to writing is an up-to-date overview of modern creative writing. She covers pretty much all angles and, thankfully, doesn't waste too much time on writer's block as most other authors do. The first two chapters give the reader the basic tools to write, the following five chapters help to fine-tune the job in hand. The author covers also the editing and publishing process which is very rare for this type of guide.
This book is impressively well written which gives the reader the comfort that the author knows what she is talking about: how to be a good author. The layout of the book is very modern and helps to guide the reader through the material. If you want to buy a book on becoming a writer do take The Writer's Way into consideration!

I previously had Read Julia Cameron's The Artist Way, which helped me unlock my creative side, or rather bring it out from under the stone I had hidden it due to lack of self beleif and all that stuff.

This book is much the same and my eye caught it becasue of the title- The Writer's Way. It starts with question such as- Why do you want to write?
Yeah yeah, simple. but really ask yourself "Why?"
Like The Artist's Way, it is a journey into yourself and Sara makes a worthwhile companion. She does not lecture, nor preach, but guides in a friendly and encouraging way.

Make no mistake, this book will challenge you, but if you are reading this and you have looked at this book then you must already be searching for something.It is hard but worthwhile and easy to follow and understand.
The steps are simple yet effective and highly worthwhie.

Be brave, tell no one, make no huge promises about writing a novel, just read this book and discover part of yourself you know you have hidden or part of yourself you wish create. Then see what happens.
