I have been told many times that I should write my life story but I was apprehensive and always thought it beyond me. An interview I heard on the Steve Wright show with Michael Oke made me think again. Oke's enthusiasm for his subject persuaded me that if I wanted to write, I could...with a little guidance from his book of course!
The book was pleasantly readable and I feel inspired to at least give it a go - current confidence even believes there's a fighting chance I might succeed. So far I've been taken through the basics of structure, preparing to write and some simple research. It sounds easy, but the proof of the pudding... Still, the memories are coming thick and fast at the moment - let's hope it's all as easy as this!
Examples are provided to overcome tricky problems, and there are hundreds of ideas, as well as a contact number if (when!) I get stuck. Presentation is covered and I may seek further help at that stage but for now I have plenty to do!
At the very least the project is keeping me busy, but reliving my life is also wonderful. Going at the rate I am, I think my book may be ready by Christmas, which might solve the problem of the grandchildren's presents. You never know, they may understand that I was young once.
