Although this book was generally helpful, it has irritating minor mistakes,as if the publisher was in too much of a hurry to have it properly proofread. Perhaps not very important if the overall information is of use, but irritating in the light of how important it is for the readers to submit personal statements free of all errors. And I am sorry for anyone trying to find out about the skills and attributes needed to study Law - apparently the main thing being looked for is a love of, and enthusiasm for, History!

A useful book 3 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
While I did notice some mistakes in terms of extra words here or there, I also found this book quite helpful. It has some interesting points about what to put into your personal statement and what not to put in. The fact that admissions tutors from different universities collaborated on this book with the author I found reassuring. There were also sections that had simple breakdowns of what needs to be put into a Personal Statement, making it easy to see what not to do. There is also a whole section devoted to writing personal statements according to the subject you are applying for. This section also includes an overview of the subject, a part that explains what skills or attributes admissions tutors look for, an overview of a good personal statement as well as examples of specific personal statements to really show you how its done and a final breakdown of what to do and what not to do. This book makes it easy to see how to write the best personal statement for your course, while also giving general hints.

this is a very basic guide. It does not cover all subjects and is very limiting. It states the obvious and I didnt learn anything new from the book. very disappointing for the level of students who will be reading this.
