4.0 out of 5 stars One for for the book shelves 5 Jan 2003
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is well written, and contains lots of good ideas for direct marketing material. Clearly it's an update of an older version and some of it seems a bit dated, but much of the content is timeless.
The author has a strong preference for long direct mail letters which I am not sure people now have the patience to read, but other than that just rereading it occasionally will keep your
writing to the point.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for any copywriter 9 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback
This is one of my favourite copywriting books. Bird is articulate, intelligent and thorough. The book is a joy to read, and one that I come back to over and over again.

He speaks from years of experience of copywriting. He draws on real-life examples (unlike some copywriting books) so you're seeing genuine sales letters that worked. That's the big difference with this book - it's relentlessly practical.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn from the best 8 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Reading this book is the best way to learn about writing sales letters that sell. Easy to read and completely de-void of mindless twaddle. It really would take you a life time of graft to come to all off these conclusions off your own back. The lessons taught in this book will earn you a fortune.

Five stars.

A must read for anyone in marketing, sales and customer service. This book is more than just how to write a sales letter, but a very good overview of direct marketing. It also provides an insight on how to communicate with customers (written and verbal), which is why recommend this book to my sales and customer service teams. This is the 3rd time I am buying the book, as someone keeps on stealing it off my desk...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - a must read 20 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
This book was recommended to me as I have been struggling to write sales letters for my new business. After reading this... somehow it all just clicks, the way you write a letter, how you approach it, the style, the content and even the look. It is all covered throughout this book. Drayton Bird is an absolute legend when it comes to letters and he even manages to entertain. Cannot recommend highly enough.
