This film only misses a 5 star rating as I found it stretched credibility just a touch too far in places. But if you can put aside the feelings of: "why on earth did they do that/not do this?" and enjoy the film for it's acting and setting, both of which are outstanding, then you will not be disappointed.
I am not easily surprised by films these days, but I can honestly say that the ending sent a chill throughout my whole body.
Highly recommended.

Just watched this on Netflix and was blown away. Such a great survival-thriller and I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Check it out!

Old friends Mitchell (Josh Duhamel) and Carter (Dan Fogler) take a ride cross country, or at least the desert. Carter is a "fat unemployed writer" while Mitchell is successful in finance with a wife and children. Carter pretends his vehicle is disabled (it's a Ford) so they can talk and get re-acquainted. The conversation turns nasty, and worse so when the Mitchell discovers the break down was staged...but then as fate would have it, the truck really breaks down.

Yes, it is a film about two guys in the desert talking about their lives going from exchanging blows to a bromance and back again and so on. There are some dark comedy moments. I wish Zach Galifianakis had played Carter, but then I always say that whenever a fat bearded role appears.

The film had an awkward "Twilight Zone" twist at the end which lacked decent development. Makes for a decent rental.

Parental Guide:F-bomb. Brief sex and nudity (Christie Burson).

Excellent acting and no distractions from exploring the depths of the characters. The dialogue was always very meaningful and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

Tense and raised many adulthood issues and prospectives. Excellent camera work and the smallest cast I've seen in any movie - pulled it of spectacularly. Not to most people liking, but I've enjoyed watching it very much. Remided me of movies:

"Buried" with Ryan Reynolds

and

Robinson Crusoe (meet Fight Club).

I know weird, right!?

This is a film you could easily hate, so I can understand some of the poor reviews (not the ones who switch off after 20 minutes - I can never understand that - if that's the case don't send in a review keep it to yourself). However I thought it was okay. There are really only 2 actors in it most of the time, and some of it as a bit contrived, but it is quite a moral tale, about friendships, stereotypes, anger and help. You may not buy into all that, but I thought for what this was, it was pretty well done.

You have to stay with this film! The first 20 minutes are slow but still the acting is brilliant. As the film goes on the tension builds. It's a very unusual film and the ending is not what I expected! It made a change to watch something a bit different.I really enjoyed it. The dialogue is massive, with long scenes.....must have taken several takes to film.Very good film.

An excellent film about two guys who don't have the nouse to pull their vehicle to block the road or write 'help' or 'please stop' on their windscreen. That's apart from them beating the &&&& out of each other. I thought we were in for a disappointingly typical happy American ending so liked the twist.
