Product Description

Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game's perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes... so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan -- win a medal -- but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph's only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking "glitch" from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it's "Game Over" for the entire arcade?

Bonus Features:
  • BD Paperman
  • Bit By Bit: Creating the Worlds of Wreck-It Ralph
  • Alternate & Deleted Scenes
  • Video Game Commercials
  • 3D Paperman

From Amazon.co.uk

Cinema loves a great villain, but for Ralph--the star of this sweet-natured fairytale about a video game character in search of a higher purpose--it’s a thankless task. He’s just a blue-collar bad guy from the retro arcade Fix-It Felix, Jr., doing his best against its handyman hero Felix and coldly abided by his game-mates as a necessary evil. Obviously, nobody voiced by John C. Reilly can truly be evil--and from his lonely landfill Ralph dreams of escaping the natural order of things. He’s just one of a metropolis of familiar faces--including Sonic the Hedgehog, Q*bert, and the paddles from Pong--that dwell in Mr. Litwak’s Video Arcade, commuting to and from their games via Game Central Station, a majestic hub of power sockets, slotted with diagonal blades of sunlight in the classic image of Grand Central Station. Steadily losing heart at Bad Guys Anonymous, Ralph sets out to conquer his hard-coded destiny, enlisting in the first person shooter Hero’s Duty and hitting rock bottom in the acrylic racing game Sugar Rush. This is Disney, where the doors of redemption never close, and Ralph inadvertently becomes the personal hero of Vanellope--played by Sarah Silverman--a lonely kart racer with a head full of dreams, bullied by the other girl-racers for a glitch in her programming. ‘We can’t change who we are’, reflects one of Pac-Man’s nemeses, and only an escalating crisis, involving a virus-like infestation and the threatened unplugging of the arcade machine, can teach Ralph and Vanellope a few thine-own-self lessons on the virtues of acceptance, belonging and taking each game as it comes. Full of underdog charm and video game nostalgia, Wreck-It Ralph is both an endearing children’s fable and an update of Toy Story for the coin-op generation, inviting us to pour our own childhoods into its toy-coloured brightness. So: whether your childhood possessions were pulled with a string or spurred with a coin, we should all make way for the bad guy. --Leo Batchelor

With Pixar supremo John Lasseter overseeing production Wreck it Ralph was always going to be a quality product. However with Pixar's last few offerings (Cars 2, Brave and Monsters University) all getting mixed reviews, there was a feeling that another listless offering was on the cards. Well I was so wrong. Wreck it Ralph is supremely entertaining for children of all ages and of course for all those mums and dads out there who remember playing Super Mario Bros, Tomb Raider, and Sonic The Hedgehog till the early hours in the eighties and nineties.

With an extremely engaging and likeable main character, Ralph of the title is a video game "bad guy" who really wants to be a "good guy". When he finds himself given the opportunity to become a good guy he grasps it with both of his huge hands and sets off on an adventure of self discovery.

With obvious parallels with Toy Story (electronic toys other than real ones) this could have been just Toy Story 4 with another name. However the writer and director have produced a stand alone movie that has enough uniqueness to make it one of the best GCI "kids Movies" ever made. There is enough slapstick humour for the kids and plenty of adult references to keep the adults happy. The story may be a bit cut and paste from other movies but so what. There is hardly anything out there that is totally unique, and this remember is mass market stuff, so a little leeway is acceptable.

The animation is second to non and is on a par with Pixar, the attention to detail is staggering. Every time my three year old sits down to watch I see something new, or an old video game character in the background. There are quite a few.

We (myself and 16 year old daughter, both old enough to know better) went to see this "cold" as it was freezing outside and nothing else took our fancy that day. Anyway, despite a fairly slow start we both really enjoyed it. Ralph is a likeable Shrek-esque character in the old school Fix-it Felix Jr arcade game. Think the Kong in Donkey Kong and you're not far off. Whilst he wrecks the house, Felix and his gold hammer fixes it for himself and its snooty inhabitants. Whilst fairly happy in his "job" he feels increasingly isolated from his game comrades who get to party in the penthouse while he sleeps alone on a pile of bricks with bricks for a pillow and a blanket of...you guessed it. He craves some attention, respect, a medal even....

This is where the clever bit comes in as after hours he travels down the power lead (use your imagination) to arcade "Grand Central" to mix with the other arcade characters. He is a regular at Bad Anon , where "bad" guys characters such as Street Fighter's Zangief, a random zombie and a Pacman ghost share their problems. Of course if he can leave Fix-it Felix he can enter other games and so a misguided foray into "Hero's Duty" ensues in search of that elusive medal. This ultimately leads to chaos and adventure for him and his cronies from thereon...

This is great stuff, very imaginative with something for everyone. Old gits like me will enjoy the retro arcade references and irony whilst younger "kids" will lap up the lush scenery, slapstick comedy and happy ending. Kid racer Vanellope von Schweetz seriously grates at first until you learn of her background and amibition and you even get to like golden boy Felix who develops a serious crush on hard as nails "Dooty" Sergeant Calhoun.

When I first saw that Disney was making a film based on videogames, I was conflicted. Sure, Disney have created some of the most timeless, beloved and classic movies of the past near-three-quarters of a century, but they could also screw it up horribly. And, as a gamer, I would know. This must be what Native Americans thought when they saw Pocahontas.

Fortunately, I needn't have worried. This movie almost won an Oscar for a reason, people!

Words cannot express with any genuine degree of accuracy how I feel about this movie. I only rated it five stars because that is the restriction Amazon has set; were it ten stars, I would give ten; a hundred for a hundred, etc.

I won't go into an explanation about the basic plot and setting; chances are you already know it, and, if not, you can go find it in any other review. All you need to know from me is that it's a severe understatement that I completely, utterly and absolutely ADORE Wreck-It Ralph! And I whole-being-ly recommend it to absolutely everyone!!

'WECOME TO GAME 'WORLD'
when you've finished playing and have gone to bed the game character's
come out to play.
'Ralph' has been a bad boy for 30 years, he see's 'Felix' ( will fix it )
from the same game receive medal after medal for being good, repairing that
which 'Ralph' has 'wrecked'
30 years with no friends, no medals, 'Ralph' craves both, and will do just
about anything to get noticed for being 'good' even if it means joining a
different game to do so.
along the way he will meet many new faces and yes he'll find a real friend,
and will learn being 'bad' is sometimes 'good'
'Disney' have entertained generation after generation for as long as most
can remember, pleased to say the 'Disney' studio continues to do so.
wonder what 'Walt' would have made of the 'digital' age in which we now live,
my guess is he would have embraced it.
'Wreck it Ralph' .......great family viewing for all.
