Product Description

Freak. Weird. Crazy. These are the names tossed around seventeen-year old Jane Watts by her fellow classmates. But things aren’t always as they seem. Sometimes there’s a reason for talking to yourself in the hallway at school.

Jane struggles with adjusting to her new home and school after an abrupt move. She wants one thing in life—to be like everyone else at school, but that’s hard to do when you’re the new kid. But she does manage to make one friend, Evan—he’s sixteen, charming, and protective. Everything a girl could want in a best friend…with one minor caveat.

He's dead.

Caught somewhere between life and death, Evan is tied to Jane and the living world unable to complete the journey to the other side. She thinks he’s here to be her friend, to take care of her, and that’s why no one can see or hear him.

That is until a new boy shows up at school after a rumored stretch in Juvie. Connor can see Evan and he’s not convinced the ghost is being completely honest. From his own experience ghosts tend to need something from the humans they connect to and Evan, despite his arguments isn’t any different.

Jane is resentful of Connor’s intrusion but realizes soon enough he’s right. Evan has secrets about his past and not only did his life end tragically but members of his family are still in danger. Jane must face her fears and battle Evan’s human demons to free both of them.

Book 2 of the Wraith Series, Shadow Bound will be released in December 2012.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Read! 20 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Wraith is the story of 17 year old Jane whose life has changed recently - new home & new school - but they weren't the only changes in her life, no. . . . along came Evan too. The thing is, only Jane could see him and after a particularly embarrassing public argument with him at school, she became the school freak, a social pariah. So for a few months she coasts along happy to stay under the radar with Evan as her only friend. Until one day, a new boy arrives and this new boy- Connor - keeps staring at Jane during class, but not just at Jane, over her shoulder too. . . . right at Evan. . . Could it be that she isn't so alone in her craziness?

I really liked this book, it was right up my street and I just loved everything about it. I loved the characters - Jane, struggling with the fact that she can see what others can't but trying to stay sane for those around her & wanting to fit in. Evan - dead, lost, trying to find his purpose and a reason for his current state, strangely drawn to Jane. Connor - Trying to cope now he's back home, feeling kindred for Jane and desperately trying to save her from his own past but shaking up her whole world. They all become entangled in a storyline that puts their hearts, minds and lives at stake.
I have to be honest, the storyline of this book has been done before - I've seen a few TV series on this subject but that certainly didn't stop me enjoying this any less, in fact I think it made me like it more because it was a familiar subject and effortless to read and when you add to that a romantic element, well I was hooked! The pacing of the plot kept me interested all of the way through as we gained pieces of the puzzle from all three of our main characters that built up to an explosive & slightly sad ending. I didn't want it to end even though I was satisfied and I'm hoping that this is the start of a series because I'm definitely interested in reading more and if you're like me and a fan of Ghost Whisperer, Medium & all this ghostly then you're going to love this too! 4.5*s

4.0 out of 5 stars The only reason it's not 5 stars... 20 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
... Is because i'm 47.

Wraith is soft horror for teenagers. That's what they're into right now and 'Wraith' does it rather well. Kids these days seem to be into vampires, werewolves, teenage angst and stuff and Wraith's in the same genre.

It's American, teenage, school, love, jealousy, angst, arty, believable, dead people, a bit adult, deals with a few taboo subjects and takes you to a place that you wouldn't want to visit yourself. And that makes it a good read. If you're 16 and never seen pain then you're in for a shock because of where it takes you. It's a page turner alright and would suit any reader ideally from say, 12 to 17 but having said that, i'm 47 and I enjoyed it.

If you're stuck for a birthday present then Wraith would be ideal.

Oh - I got it on a free promo for my kindle and don't know the author. Nothin' in it for me. Just being honest.
