What is the price of love?

Nick Gentry is reputed to be the most skilful lover in all England. Known for solving delicate situations, he is hired to seek out Miss Charlotte Howard. He believes his mission will be easily accomplished - but that is before he meets the lady in question.

For instead of a wilful female, he discovers one in desperate circumstances, hiding from a man who would destroy her very soul. So Nick shockingly offers her a very different kind of proposition - one he has never offered before: he asks her to be his bride.

But Nick quickly discovers that while he might easily claim Charlotte's body, it will take much more than passion to win her love.

Amazon Review

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas has another winner on her hands with Worth Any Price, the follow-up to Lady Sophia's Lover. Fans and new readers alike will love the fast-paced plot, compelling characters, high-octane sensuality, and the well-drawn English setting.

Bow Street runner Nick Gentry is a complex man with a dark and tortured history and beautiful Charlotte Howard is a woman running from her past. Neither Nick nor Charlotte are wholly what they seem, for each have secrets too painful to reveal and each has chosen to hide behind a false identity. Once they're drawn into each other's worlds, they're forced to face difficult truths and are compelled to acknowledge the passion that burns between them. For Charlotte, "the challenge of taming him, matching his powerful will with her own, was too tempting to resist." For Nick, "..if he could not have her, this endless feeling of being hungry, unsatisfied, cold, would never leave him." But will their love be enough to defeat the obsessed nobleman that covets Charlotte and the thirst for danger that tempts Nick, or is their future together doomed by the pain of their past? --Lois Faye Dyer, Amazon.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read 19 Feb 2003
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Lisa Kleypas revisits the characters of Lady Sophias's Lover in this novel, but does it with infinate skill. The focus is on Sophia's brother known as Nick Gantry.
From the first chapter it was intriguing. Nick is portrayed as a bad boy with a past personal trauma that makes him hesitant around women. Whilst there are the usual ingredients of seduction and angst, Lisa Kleypas has put this plot together in a gripping way. It is a follow on from Lady Sophias Lover, but is still a great book in it's own right.

5.0 out of 5 stars A love so strong 22 Jan 2006
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I love Lisa Klepas' books I have almost everyone, but this one is my favourite Nick Gentry is portrayed as a hard unable to care man with a seedy nature to visit a brothel which is were he gets the knowlegde to become a good lover. When he is sent to find the lovely Charlotte he has nothing in mind but to take her back to radnor and be done. But sparks fly as she enchants him with her fiery ways and he soon becomes etranced by her and getting feelings he long thought he would never have. Soon klepas makes nicks character grow before your eyes as you watch him learn to love and like no other and defend his new wife and love her with all his heart. It is a very romantic book and one I would recomend to anyone as Charlottes strong nature brings the best out of Nick and how he defends and protects her when lord radnor kidnaps her and trys to torture his only ever love. Its a truely remarkable books as is all kleypas but this one will hook you as it did me I am sure! ENJOY!

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but Implausible 7 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It would be churlish to deny that I enjoyed reading this story but it is not really one of Lisa Kleypas' best. She is an author of huge talent and some of her novels are just exceptional. This one ought to be good: the hero, Nick Gentry, has all the right ingredients: hugely goodlooking, alpha male; a master of lovemaking skills taught by a madam; flawed by his past... the heroine, an innocent in disguise and on the run from an evil earl, is feisty enough. Yet, the plot feels a bit thin and there aren't really enough challenges in it to make the romance truly interesting. For a start, it seems to me utterly unlikely that the sexual mismatch of this innocent virgin and a master of the arts would be so incredibly successful from almost their first encounter.... It just beggars belief.... and too much of the plot surrounds this aspect of the relationship. It somehow removed the suspense. I enjoyed the book but I felt throughout that this was a bit of a barrel scraping exercise at the end of a long series - Bow Street and Wallflowers.

4.0 out of 5 stars good lighthearted read 26 Sep 2012

Usual Lisa Kleypas format. Some of her books are brilliant and some not so. This one comes somewhere in the middle. A good read nonetheless and interesting characters. Worth giving it a go

Charlotte desperately needs help, before she loses her soul to an evil man. This help comes in the unexpected form of Nick Gentry (reputedly the greatest lover in all England) He is shocked by her position and offers her a way to escape, what would be a sickening future, he offers marriage 'in name only'

This is a sequel to Lady Sophia's Lover which I loved reading. This can be a stand alone read as well - I thought it was a good book and have previously read in the paper back.
