Product Description

Product Description

Fashion is a fickle friend. One moment we're dressed in a velour jumpsuit, showing off our new perm to the world, the next we're contemplating burning our house down to get rid of the photographic evidence! But there's no need to blame ourselves for these lapses in style and judgement, when we can blame fashion. In this anti-style bible, some of the very worst fashion trends of all time are collected, in the hope that they'll never again escape to taunt us. Clothes and hairstyles that we all loved at the time, but that in retrospect were, well, simply horrible. From kipper ties to shell suits, batwing sleeves to the puffball skirt, snoods to mood rings, The Worst Fashion Trends in the World reminds you that you weren't the only one who fell for the hype. Funny and nostalgic, this book is a must for anyone who's ever had the popper on their 'body' ping at an inopportune moment, or their Global Hypercolour T-shirt reveal their hot armpits to the world!

About the Author

Richard Jarman is a very poorly dressed man. He blames this on a 1970s upbringing in the West Midlands, with its obligatory flares, parka coats and space-hoppers. He is a keen people-watcher and is co-author of No Place Like Home (New Holland).

5.0 out of 5 stars We've all been there, 7 Jul 2006
By Rob C (London) - See all my reviews
As a child of the '70's this brings back some painful memories. Unlike modern '70's revivals, which have some irony and style about them, the decade itself truly was dreadful. This book relives this and other style disasters

Vital therapy for all victims. You also need to study this book closely to avoid making today's mistakes. What will we be laughing at in 20 years time?

Loved it

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 6 Jul 2006
By Ms. A. Bond (London, UK) - See all my reviews

Hilarious! Richard Jarman's witty insights into the fashion crimes of multi generations of high street shoppers had me tearing up my old photos so that my own crimes of fashion may never be discovered! A brilliant read for those 'i've nothing to wear' days as after a couple of pages I found myself reassured in the knowledge that nothing in my current wardrobe could possibly be as bad as all that!

5.0 out of 5 stars they're all out to get me, 23 Jul 2006
Up until quite recently I suffered from agorophobia but thanks to many years spent with my wonderful therapist together we conquered this debilitating illness. However thanks to Mr Jarman all our hard work has been undone! I can no longer leave my front door for fear that the fashion police, led no doubt by the author himself, may arrest me and throw me into one of his books for an eternity of ridicule. Many thanks Mr J... I hope you're proud of yourself.
