One of the great things about the Amazon 'Your recommendations' feature is that it brings to my attention books which I might have otherwise missed - and am I glad that this one was included on my list.
It has everything - it's well written, has strong, believable characters and a good plot and, unlike too many of the books which I have read lately, it gets on with the story without a lot of unnecessary waffle to pad it out.
If, like me, you are a fan of the current (in my opinion) great British crime writers like Hill, James, Horton, Rankin etc, this is certainly one to add to your list.
Chris Collett has produced a winner and I shall look forward to his next books.

A well worked out piece of crime fiction, also good on the intricacies of caring for an autistic adult: accurate, and nice to see a book where the realities of life shape the plot.

That said, the premise - which I can't describe without giving away the plot - is hardly new, and strains credibility a bit. If you discount this, though, a good read and - other reviews notwithstanding, yes it is a page turner.

I found this to be one of the most boring "who done its" I have read in years. I am not even sure whether the book was intended to be of that genre or to highlight the stresses and strains and impact on someone's life of looking after a seriously autistic adult. The plot is extremely slow moving and tedious with long sections focusing on Jamie the autistic brother of the murdered journalist. Having got half way through I could face no more of this and gave it up. I certainly won't be looking for any further books by this author who needs to concentrate on what type of book she wishes to write!
