Professionals working in the field of water need a single reference book upon whose accuracy and integrity they can rely. This is such a book. The first half is made up of excellent overview chapters plus extra chapters on particular subjects of special interest. Peter Gleick has a very readable style, which makes all of these chapters interesting. The second half consists of a series of clear, well-annotated and authoritative tables.
