4 of 4 people found the following review helpful By Wedge Antilles on 11 Jan. 2011
Format: Hardcover
A gorgeous book that looks as good on a table as on the bookshelf. A well-designed layout keeps the reader engaged and can entertain the casual peruser. The World's Best Whiskies finds a middle ground between Murray's overly-comprehensive Whisky Bible and Buxton's best-of 101 Whiskies to Try Before You Die.

Roskrow focuses more on background and character than on facts or grades. The book is full of little-known anecdotes, sports and music comparisons (blended whisky is like an American football team, Lagavulin 16 is Miles Davis, Glenrothes 25 has a recommended track -- "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas & Papas), and absolute character. Reading feels more like a conversation than a lecture or an encyclopaedia entry.

A must-have for seasoned whisky-drinkers and newcomers alike. Highly recommended.

It's incredible to find out exactly where in the world some of the whiskies are manufactured. The book contains some amazing facts and excellent illustrations
