My three and a half year old son loves this toy. We got it him during a period when his sleep was troubled and he was telling us he was afraid of the dark. The torch provides enough light as a nightlight to banish his fears but not too much to keep him awake. That was great for me and his mum. What he really loves is that he can make shapes on the wall with the torch and when he puts the lens in the torch he can have lightning mcqueen wherever he goes. As for durability, it does not look the sturdiest of items but we have had it about three to four months and it hasn't broken yet. And, believe me, its had some hammer.

We got this for our 2.5 year old son when he was having trouble sleeping. He would come through screaming in the middle of the night. He's a massive Cars fan currently so this seemed perfect... and it worked a treat! He sleeps a lot better with the night light and can use the torch either for fun, or to check out the shadows in his room at night. My only gripe with it is that it doesn't look quite like the picture. The lamp/torch part is fine, but the base on the one we received does not have the tyre decals on it like the picture does, so it is just a plain black base. I tried to contact Amazon about this which turned out to be an extremely difficult task, but in the end decided it wasn't enough of a problem to justify taking it off of my son (and reverting to sleepless nights) to return it.

All in all, satisfactory.
