I'm a late convert to House of Lords, but regardless of the name involved, this is fantastic stuff.
HoL have been around for a while, and almost made it to the big leagues, before line-up changes and internal politics led to a 10+ year hiatus. They were known for excellent musicianship, BIG vocals, BIG choruses, and BIG keyboards. And BIG HAIR!!!
Now, the vocalist is the only survivor, but he's put together a band of top-notch musicians, and put out one of the best rock CD's I've heard in years.
It's possibly heavier than past releases - mainly due to the guitar sound (a Dean guitar through a marshall + boss overdrive, ie LOUD) - but the big choruses and layered harmonies are there, with catchy memorable tunes.
there are also a few power ballads to keep that aspect of '80's rock alive.
The two main attractions apart from the songs, are James Christian's vocals, which are superb, and Jimi Bell's guitar, which reveals him as a phenomenal shredder (Yngwie look out!), who apparently nearly got the Ozzy gig, toured in Geezer Butler's band, and should be a big name in guitar circles. he plays a mean acoustic too.
Drummer is excellent, keys and bass are solid, and more to the point, it's a complete package.
They're superb live too.
