Once again a change of author and format, but some strides forward in content and now encompassing all Clubs in Europe, it feels like it was on a restricted budget due to the size and quality of its pages. There is no doubt though it is a labour of love to fill a void by a dedicated fan and lover of the sport, but when will the BSPA solicit the backing of Benfield and maybe Sky Sports to produce a Wisden of Speedway ?. Power to your elbow Peter, lets hope its a first attempt that will be encouraged and expanded on by the powers in the sport, to give the fans a lavish annual handbook.

Like the last reviewer I long for the day when a 'Wisden' type Speedway yearbook appears.The sport certainly deserves it.
Until then we are stuck with an everchanging format, this year on very poor quality paper.
It is however a labour of love, and although no fan of the author , I do give Peter Oakes much credit for his efforts here. Without him there would be nothing as a record of the year in Speedway and that would be a tradegy.
Personally I prefered the 2006? colour A4 effort, but sadly again that was a one year wonder, as have the many versions since 1977 with the many gaps inbetween!!
Thankfully home produced offerings from the likes of Alan Robertson and Malcolm Vasey are filling many gaps extremely well and although not available through Amazon are certainly worth making the effort to track down!
