4.0 out of 5 stars World Snooker Championship 2005 (PS2), 26 April 2006

A very good game indeed. Nice easy controls to pick up and unlike previously mentioned you can hold down a button to speed up the computer player so you don't have to sit and wait for him to make his break or watch the animations.

Nice graphics and plenty of players / arenas / tables and special games to unlock.

I have had it for some time now and have still a great deal of the game to explore. It has longevity which so many PS2 games lack these days.

Only down side is the strange absence of Jimmy White from the game - not sure why? Also when you play in a tournament they will not introduce custom players they just walk on silently like they're not there whilst your apponent will get a great reception.

It's nice and easy to make big breaks which everyone wants to do. But to get the centuries you do have to think about positional play. It's a lot easier than the real life game of snooker thanks to the aiming tools. But lets face it, if it was the same difficulty we would all get bored after 5 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snooker Is Back, 7 May 2005

I have Played On wcs 2003, 2004 and 2005. 2005 is by fare the best one!!!! You can make your own player and be over 100 players. The Graphics are as good as you would need or wanted. The game Play is a lot better. This time the cue ball arrows are fare more accurate, meaning you can make high breaks.Witch is a lot more fun then just getting to 70 and then losing it all. (Like you do in 2003 and 2004) On wcs 2004 my top 10 breaks was from 60 to 102 and 2005 is 89 to 147.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missed opportunity, 22 April 2005
This review is from: World Snooker Championship 2005 (PS2) (Video Game)
Did we need an update to WCS 2004? Well, there were some minor niggles about the last game such as the crowd coughing like they had tuberculosis but generally it was a well rounded game. Hats off to Codemasters for the fine job they did. Like all good sportsmen it seems they decided to quit at the top of their game.

But what have Blade Interactive done with this new version? Gone are the easy to navigate menus. We now have some god-awful rotating menu system which is about as intuitive as tying your shoelaces with your teeth. The animation of the game is supposed to have improved with real life models such as Steve Davis being used. In reality there is an awful, noticable pause between selecting the shot and the shot being played with the screen perceptibly blurring. Disk access seems to be constant and disrupts the flow of the game. Also the table does not look as good as in 2004. Compare the two games (2004 and 2005) side by side and you'd not think that this was the latest version.

There are a couple of extra added fetaures such as Snooker plus, billiards and bar billiards but, and this is the crux of the matter, is this enough? I'd say no.

The physics may have improved, the animations may be more realistic but the gameplay, menu system and graphics have, I am sad to say, deteriorated. A good opportunity lost by Blade here.

If you have WCS 2004 then don't bother with this. If you don't have WCS 2004 then buy it instead of this. I've rarely been so disappointed by a game and the complete failure to improve upon previous versions is unforgivable.
