Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

The irrepressible Dave Clarke follows his last mixed album, released in 1999 on Fuse, with a brand new compilation World Service for React. Initially striking is the albums beastly proportions with over 40 tracks torn apart with typical Clarke aplomb and reflecting his syndicated Technology radio show with a two-way split which sees the first disc taking in all things techno and the second showing distinctly electro leanings. What must have been a licensing nightmare sees Joey Beltram rubbing shoulders with Jeff Mills and James Ruskin within the techno tome, while the electro section sees 80s celebrators Fischerspooner battling it out with the glorious ultra-synthetics of Adult before Radiohead's Thom Yorke spins in from the turntables. With digital electrickery becoming increasingly de rigour within similar compilations, it's a joy to learn that each mix of World Service was completed in a single take--digital effects thrown in from the desk on the fly as he cuts, scratches and generally terrorises the vinyl in his flit from record to record. --Kingsley Marshall

The much anticipated and awaited new album from Dave Clarke does not disappoint. Anyone who has seen Dave live can understand exactly where the tracks selection is coming from. I would like to say it is starts off slow and builds up but this, as you would expect from Dave, is crazy right from the start! The first CD is excellent thumping techno with the second CD bringing you back to voice boxes and 80's electro with tracks such as "Red" and "Ficher Spooners" current monster "Emerge". A Cd which is perfect for the techno lovers and those looking for something a bit different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top class stuff from a genius DJ 7 Mar 2004
By Mr. Rob Collins VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Let's start with the techno CD. It ranges from slightly quirky to the downright banging. Some of the tunes will put a smile on your face as you nod your head, others will get you itching to be going mental on the dancefloor. There should be a health warning because the tunes are so good you might explode. The mixing is done expertly and by hand - none of this computer mixing malarky. Mr Clarke employs lots of electronic gadget wizardry to tweak the tunes. He doesn't just play the music, he knows every last little DJing trick to make the music repeatedly and savagely kick you in the head. None of your Richie Hawtin style subtlety here!

The electro CD is top class too. Some really cool and funky tunes that are great to listen to on a Sunday afternoon. The mixing again is top notch. If nothing else, this CD is worth buying just because there are so few good electro compilations out there. Dave has got his hands on some tracks that are truely superb and you're unlikely to hear anywhere else.

I bought this CD when it first came out, and it still gets regularly played now. Well done that man!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb double disc from a very talented dj 6 Jun 2001

If you've heard of Dave Angel, then you know what i mean when i use the phrase funky techno.Dave Clarke brings us some of the finest of that.I could rabbit on for ages about his abilities but theres no point because the guys from England and Northern Ireland got there first.I could'nt agree more and then some!.Disc one is as funky as whilst disc two mainly covers breakbeat, not the nasty type you'd normally associate with the word break, but a very pleasureable listening experience indeed. If Dave was playing in the arches in Glasgow next week i'd be there no doubt about it.You need this compilation its as simple as that.
