This is a nicely illustrated book giving a summary of the six main religions, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism.
There are six pages to each religion with a section on other religions, a map of religions and a time chart.
It would be a good present for a child to help with RE homework or indeed for an adult who requires a quick summary or a reference guide. The book is very user friendly and easy to read and the illustrations of symbols, places of worship etc are beautiful.
The style of writing is matter of fact and carefully avoids any opinion or judgement with the result it comes over a tad bland so if you are looking for a rigorous theological debate then this obviously isn't the book for you.
I was a bit disappointed that the section on "Other religions" was so short(only four pages), I would liked to have read more about the history behind non-conformist groups, Mormons, Presbyterians, Unitarians,Pentecostals, Quakers and Jehovah's Witnesses etc but I guess this book is primarily a summary.
Having said that the book's introduction states that its objective is to "explain the key ideas in a balanced and objective way" and it does that very well.I thoroughly recommend it
