Product Description

"You're telling me the Victoria and Albert Museum only exists because seven guys needed to hide a handful of objects for a hundred years?" Finding herself unable to draw anything but vines, 19-year-old Rebecca reluctantly puts her ambitions as an illustrator on hold when she is drawn into the machinations of a Victorian secret society founded to make safe an interface between parallel worlds. But first Rebecca has to grow up. Dragged into helping a cause in which she still barely believes, Rebecca finds herself playing Hunt-the-Thimble amongst England's oldest institutions. Over the course of her twentieth summer she will break a code, discover her astonishing ancestry, and half fall in love - twice. But what begins as a game will shake her to the core.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wierd and Wonderful, 12 Mar 2010
By
This review is from: A World Invisible (Paperback)
I don't normally read books with a 'fantasy touch' or even a 'techno touch', being more of a mystery/thriller gal, but I was drawn into this by the use of clues to 'solve' a mystery. It was hard to put down, as I was mesmerized by the story and characters and felt quite intelligent in the moments when I actually thought I had 'got it'! The use of place really was integral to the story. I really started to care about the young boy and so wanted to see where their search would take them. There were moments, when the action seemed to happen a bit too quickly--first time author rush, but at the end, I was frustrated by wanting more. Sequel please. The words from the author to us, the readers, at the end of the book were almost as thought provoking to me as the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A World Invisible, 15 Dec 2009
This review is from: A World Invisible (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, great atmosphere and descriptive writing tell a story that lets your imagination roam through a myriad of possibilties. As the story unfolds you are taken through a plot with such desriptive power that you feel you could be standing in the V&A, an Oxford College or your own elderly auntie's home. I hope the author will write a sequel soon as I really want to know what is on the other side. Buy this for your young-at-heart friends who like a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A well crafted holiday read, 10 Sep 2010
This review is from: A World Invisible (Paperback)
A thoroughly enjoyable, well-crafted holiday read. I liked the author's take on the parallel universe idea, found the story well constructed and absorbing with very credible characters. Sound research coupled with good descriptive writing had me captivated. A somewhat rushed ending is my only criticism. I look forward to the sequel.
