Format:Audio CD
Jangly guitars, soaring vocals and steady drums.
Similar sound to Congolese music but earthier and with it's own take on guitar driven African music. From Kenya in the 1970s and 80s with a sound described as 'Swahili rumba'. The tracks are all unhurried, at least 8 minutes long, they get into a groove and then develop on a theme.
At times it reminds me of Remmy Ongala, or Samba Mapangala.
It's danceable, catchy and great fun.
The CD booklet has very informative notes and reproduces some of the orginal album covers. In fact the cover design of this release itself is really good.
