Format: Hardcover
I got this book way back in 1978 just after the Finals ended, and it was my constant companion through the cold winter nights. It is difficult nowadays to explain to younger football fans just how little football was on tv back then, there were no videos or dvds to relive the brilliant matches in Argentina, and this book was the next best thing. Filled with match reports, and beautiful colour photographs, it even smelt nice! Everything is covered, from the early promise of Italy, to the rollercoaster ride that was the Scotland team, to Argentina`s eventual triumph. Ron Greenwood even picked his World Cup XI, his England team having just missed out on qualifying. Wonderful book, makes me want to hunt it out and carefully turn the pages again, just as I did as an eighteen year-old suffering from Mondial withdrawal.
